200. Five Questions About the Maduro Arrest Operation
Friday night's U.S. military operation in Venezuela was a textbook violation of international law. It's also entirely unauthorized by U.S. law, which ought to (but probably won't) matter.

Here is J.D. Vance's rationale for seizing Maduro. He says Trump "was very clear throughout this process: the drug trafficking must stop, and the stolen oil must be returned to the United States." Very interesting, since the indictment says nothing whatever about oil, stolen or otherwise. /1

something worth pointing out is that Americans largely have zero concept of who Bolivar was, what he did, and what South Americans think about him
VP Delcy Rodriguez, whom Trump indicated earlier today was collaborating with the US government, is live on television right now.

Earlier reports that she's in Russia are false. She's in Caracas with the rest of the cabinet.

Maduro is a brutal and oppressive dictator of Venezuela.

Trump has no legitimate legal basis for military action against Venezuela under United States or international law.

Both of those facts are simultaneously true.

President Trump ordered strikes on sites inside Venezuela, including military facilities, U.S. officials told CBS News, as the administration early Saturday ratcheted up its campaign against the regime of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Recently saw the same thing here in DC. Bunch of unmarked HSI cars surrounded a bus, jumped out of the vehicles, and grabbed people at random. Within a minute they were gone.

People need to understand that what this country has built is a secret police force that is capable of disappearing people!
Video shows DHS trespassers invading the private areas of a business, profiling and detaining people. They've already had to release two of them. Witness confirms what is obvious in the video: that they didn't ask anyone's names or get any information at all. "They just started taking them."

The degree to which we're seeing a backsliding of higher education in this country is astounding tbh.

When I toured UNL it seemed like things were on an upswing but honestly most of the educational opportunities that I had seem to be disappearing from red states
Sad to see that my colleagues in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at UNL saw their combined department eliminated late this afternoon by the UNL Board of Regents. No more meteorology no more geology at UNL. Words escape me!

Citizens, PAY ATTENTION, and never forget that the TRUTH about a city’s REAL aspirations isn’t found in its visions. It’s found in its budget.
