@govpritzker.illinois.gov why are your employees in the State Police singling out clergy for brutalization and arrest?

Are you sure you're still in control here?
@govpritzker.illinois.gov I want you to watch this video of me slammed to the ground- why are you allowing this to happen to people you know are on the right side of history. They tied my hands behind my back and when I asked them to be loosened because I was going numb they said, “STFU.”
at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.

he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.

situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.

Democrats have seen how successfully the Labour Party nuked their own voting coalition, and want the same for themselves
This is a straightforward Republican attack line, what the fuck is he doing

"Look away" by Chicago being the top song of 1989 is making me feel crazy.

how do I have zero memory of this massive hit song? I was listening to Casey Kasem every week back then!
People need to stop retconning literally the worst era in American popular music history into something it wasn't, just because there were also some amazing records that like 250 people happened to be hunting down and listening to

Dems learned nothing from Fetterman turning out to be a right wing plant (maybe it was the stroke!), and have shown no interest in doing anything to ID future Fettermans

They got a freebie this time with the Nazi tattoo & racism, but look at them still supporting the guy
Dems, 2016: You snot nosed little Bernie Bro communist freaks did not pokemon go to the polls and that's why Hilary lost

Dems, 2025: You snot nosed little communist freaks aren't listening to the good Senator from Vermont, Bernard and now Graham who isn't even officially on the ballot yet will lose

Hell yeah proud of my State Senator Hoan Huynh for standing up to these freakshow terrorists.

Now he just needs to get on Bluesky so his people can tag him!
State Representative Hoan Huynh speaks about his experience with ICE and how they pointed a gun at him while in his car.

Adding "feds fucking choking a man in broad daylight" to the list.

Absolute terror across Chicago today. Begging for national attention that matches the level of crisis on the ground here feels like screaming underwater at this point.
HAPPENING NOW — Video obtained by The TRiiBE shows a federal agent with his hands around the neck of a Black man following an apparent car crash on the West Side near California Avenue and Congress Parkway.

it's super unsubtle the way center-right corporate media thinks progressive good faith popular reform is a bigger threat than the complete demolition of democracy at the hands of authoritarians

If the general public is going to stay informed as the US descends into fascist chaos and state-sanctioned terrorism, it will be because independent journalists risked their lives and their freedoms to bring us the truth.

Seek out the indies doing this work. Read them, promote them, fund them!
I worked with the reporters at @unraveledpress.com and the Chicago Reader's @mulchy.bsky.social yesterday to cover a brutal day of ICE activity in the Chicago suburbs. By day's end, immigration agents had killed a man and, only a few miles away, subjected protestors to tear gas and pepper balls.
New, w/ @mulchy.bsky.social & @djbyrnes1.bsky.social:

ICE shot & killed an immigrant in the Chicago suburbs yesterday.

Then they immediately gave a misleading account of events.

Chicago erupted in chaos and a father who lived here for decades is dead. This is what really happened:

What happened to Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez
Immigration agents shot and killed an unarmed 38-year-old father outside Chicago on Friday—and their initial narrative of events was quickly disproven by videos captured by witnesses.

I for one think it's a good thing that Charlie Kirk, a fascist liar and inciter of violence and terrorism, is dead, so now he can't do that stuff anymore

In the fascist/centrist response to his killing, you see them building the rhetorical architecture to label anti-fascism as a terrorist ideology
No lol they at least did me the courtesy of sending me a list of posts I would absolutely proudly read at the Hague 2 with my lips directly on the mic

Hannity should have simply explained to the farmer how much more profit his bankrupt farm will make after it's bought out by a global agribusiness conglomerate for pennies on the dollar.

As a conservative, he should stop complaining and be happy to sacrifice for the greater good (shareholders).

there is a massive capitalist incentive to ensure American fascism lasts as long as possible with the least amount of pushback. We are lambs being led into an abattoir and the elected leaders in the opposition party are willingly walking us in while sharpening the knives

Responding to a credible threat of terrorist violence against her own constituents, Tammy Duckworth accuses Trump of "stolen valor" because he is dressed as an army commander in the post.

An embarrassing failure to meet the moment from my Senator.
Take off that Cavalry hat, you draft dodger.

You didn’t earn the right to wear it.

Stolen valor at its worst.

Donors pay both parties, but not so they always come out on top no matter who wins an election.

They pay Democrats to lose, and they pay Republicans to win.
The Dem Senate leadership's unbelievable negotiating position is that they will give Trump everything he wants except that they demand: an extension of Obamacare subsidies so that they expire right after the midterms, not before. This sounds like political malpractice on several levels.

More and more people are saying it: Democrats are bad actors who literally want Republicans to win.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a real opposition party? We can start building one in the next primaries!
Dems' plan is to help the GOP win the midterms (including State elections) by delaying ACA cuts until just after the midterms, when the ACA will be gutted just the same and the GOP will still control everything and wreak more havoc.

Dems aren't even asking for anything beyond that. What a disgrace.

Was surprised to see my congressman, @quigley.house.gov among the group pushing this.

Congressman, any comment on this call from your organization to "find a middle ground" on immigration by "increasing financial and operational support" to the US gestapo?

Are we really still doing this?

One of the panels at Socialism 2025 featured a long-time brilliant organizer and comrade Paula Rojas who said at one point: "Some of us in this room will be imprisoned or killed in the next few years." It was a room full of activists and organizers & it seemed to quiet the room.

My all-time favorite "distraction" was when Trump accused Barack Obama of treason, and Obama himself dismissed this, a credible call for HIS OWN EXECUTION, as "just a distraction"

Pretty sure he'd still be saying "it's a distraction" and calling for bipartisanship on his way to the firing squad.
I am begging y'all to stop calling the militarization of a major city a "distraction".

If *YOU* would rather think about Epstein--- and not about the forced mass displacement of human beings--- then just say that.

It's interesting how freely companies admit they've been eating tariffs, i.e. deliberately reducing their profit margins in violation of their fiduciary duty to shareholders.

How many shareholders even realize they're being robbed to prop up Trump, I wonder?
So far President Trump’s trade polices have had almost no effect on new car prices. But automakers can’t absorb the cost forever and will soon begin to raise those prices, analysts say.

"Libertarianism" in America was always about giving conservative authoritarians like Musk & Thiel a nicer name to call themselves.

That word is so poisoned now, and they think you're so stupid, now they've invented "Liberaltarian" in an attempt to continue the charade.

Housing = genocide is an example of something I'm seeing more of lately: conservative/"centrist" astroturfers no longer understanding what they're pretending to be.

They know they need to lie about their beliefs, but due to their own deepening ignorance, none of it quite makes sense anymore.
Housing is genocide sign seen at a NIMBY protest today against a mixed income high rise.

The new homes are less than a few blocks to a trolley stop.

And the neighborhood is majority white and middle to upper income.
August 3, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Wow they just admit freely that a bunch of companies have been deliberately tanking their profit margins to prop up Donald Trump.

If I was a major shareholder of one of those companies, I might have some questions about that, and maybe a lawsuit!

More and more people are saying it: Labour is previewing for us how Democrats will govern if given power again absent a MAJOR intra-party realignment in the next primaries.
Yeah, I'm really worried about the Dems basically following Labour's lead with this
