In Oct 2024, I was hospitalized. I have kidney failure and require dialysis, and it was months before I learned to walk again. Before I got Medicaid, I maxed out every credit card I have to pay for medical transport and groceries. Any help you can offer to pay down the debt is appreciated.

We make Tron: Ares into a meme...

Just as an experiment to see if Disney can learn from the mistakes of others or not...

‘TRON: ARES’ has earned $14.3M in its opening day at the domestic box office.

For comparison, ‘MORBIUS’ opened to $17.3M.

An attempted family picture, the best one I got out of multiple tries. 😆
A tuxedo mama cat and three kittens in their shelter kennel. Mama is reclining up top on a shelf, enjoying some time away from her children. A floofy white and grey kitten is sitting on some light green fabric and looking at the camera. A brown tabby kitten is standing still, but looking off to the side at random. A black kitten is looking down at the bright orange ball tower he's standing on, completely ignoring everything else.

I too thought this said "I'm Not Your Personal Trainer" AND I thought it was a Traveller supplement.

Design tip: The font Futura is drawn with geometric shapes and minimalist features, which makes it especially prone to confusing lowercase a and o.

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

I'm not Zack Snyder, and the reason is I want the guardrails of working within an already-established setting where I don't have to do the heavy lifting of worldbuilding. Also the challenge of telling an original story with those restrictions.

Ugh. I feel the urge to write, but the only ideas I have that are in any shape to start writing on are set in worlds I would never get permission to write in. And I'd like to get paid for my work.

I am surprised that the movement to make "God Bless America" the new national anthem didn't go anywhere.

Personally, I'd choose "American Jesus". Feels more fitting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=12kc...

God Bless America is just a song by Irving Berlin. It’s not the national anthem. America is so far down the moron hole it will never get out

Lot of talk about the flagrant misreading but actually I think this is active psychosis. Nobody in their right mind makes everything about the antichrist

thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.

Ironic that they're suing "AI" companies for training on their material then using those same algorithms to create shit for a series.

Sorry, they claim this is hand-drawn art just using "AI enhancement". Suuuure.

Instead of creating shock value by killing protagonists off seemingly at random, what they've done is cultivate a style of storytelling where I can't let myself get invested BECAUSE I can never know if someone's about to die. So all you've done is train me to not care. So then why watch?
gamerstavernshow.com
Unless I'm watching a horror movie or a murder mystery, I should know precisely who is going to die before the die. Hell, even in those two genres, I should know or at least kick myself for not seeing the signs it was coming when it does happen.
gamerstavernshow.com
Later on is when they started the LOLRandom style of just killing people or making radical character changes for no real reason other than shock value. Then everyone started copying that style of "storytelling" because it was the big trend. "You never know who will live or die!" Fuck that.
gamerstavernshow.com
The first season of Game of Thrones was actually the opposite of this. Everything that happened was clearly set up by the narrative. Yes, protagonists died, but it happened because they made stupid choices AND there was time for the consequences to set in for the audience.
