I try not to be judgmental about people's looks or cosmetic treatments and surgery but people whose faces end up looking like a knock-off barbie was left on the radiator have a lot of nerve talking about brightly coloured hair

As a writer I'm very 'internal', I LOVE to explore why they make those decisions, and also to put someone with a specific personality trait in a situation that'll REALLY work against them. For example, a manipulative control freak in a situation where they have no power or influence...

I'd really appreciate if writers these days took a look at their characters doing therapyspeak and whether that's appropriate for their work and their world.

By "therapyspeak" I mean speaking like this: "This is the emotion I'm feeling, and feeling that emotion makes me want to act in a way"

Exactly this! Now I'm no longer in my teens and early twenties I vastly prefer friends who are low conflict and low drama, with high emotional intelligence.

In fiction I want to read about the exact opposite! Give me people who burn down their exes house!

And I love my dullest friend (am often the dullest friend) and am glad they had a good weekend (and thoroughly enjoyed my own weekend of 'go to library, do big shop, visit knitting shop, gentle walk in nature if weather allows') but it doesn't make for a good book

Fundamentall, stories are kind of boring (to me) if they're about mostly reasonable people doing the sensible thing. You need weirdos making bad decisions or it's just your dullest friend describing their weekend
