One of my Supreme Court reform takes is they should be completely barred from taking any outside income (incl. publishing deals) and it should be particularly frowned upon, normatively, to be writing books. Memoirs are for writing after you retire, not five years into a lifetime appointment.

CNN obtained access to Barrett's memoir, in which the justice also takes on religious bias and details her decision-making process, revealing that her chambers once celebrated with champagne when other justices joined a "particularly tricky" opinion of hers. https://cnn.it/45YXtwV

The Eno is the river I ran around on as a kid - I was 8 when Fran hit, and it was such a big deal that we put up signs about the flooding because it was supposed to be a once-a-century event.

19 years later, those signs are underwater, and not even from a hurricane.
From one of the local meteorologists, looks like we have a new record for the Eno River -- beating out Hurricane Fran back in 1996

I'm watching CNBC. These anchors are so angry. They really didn't believe he'd do it. They're actually just now, 10 years into this shit, realizing he's a maniac hellbent on revenge and there's no grand plan for the markets. Better late than never but holy shit.

If Musk doesn't end his evening in a squad car, Wisconsin is just announcing that sufficiently wealthy & connected people get to publicly announce they're committing crimes, and the state will be too afraid to do anything about it. Criminal law is for the poor.

Seriously -- he's broadcasting plans to violate state and federal election laws, in support of his quest to sway a state Supreme Court election.

Arrest him.

Yes, even though he's really rich.

Arrest him.
Elon’s coming to Wisconsin to hand out million dollar checks in his bribe scheme.

They should arrest him when he does.
This latest vote-buying scheme by Musk incredibly corrupt, at same time Tesla suing Wisconsin, and likely illegal

It is a felony in Wisconsin to offer, give, lend or promise to lend or give anything of value to induce a voter to cast a ballot or not vote.

My dear friend’s niece, who in October developed sepsis when a Georgia hospital refused her a D&C after a miscarriage, will be taken off life support tomorrow.

I don’t know the names of the countless others who have suffered and will suffered because of anti-abortion laws.

But her name was Haley.

Yes

And tbh do the prosecutions in spite of the pardons, forcing the defendants to litigate their pardons' legitimacy

Then use the pardons being upheld to promote a constitutional amendment gutting executive power
at this point the only way America can regain trust and legitimacy on the world stage is if the next administration prosecutes most of the current administration
"Europe is on the brink of civilizational suicide," US Vice President Vance told Fox News. "Countries don’t control borders, restrict free speech. If Germany takes in millions more incompatible migrants, it’ll destroy itself. America can’t save it."

Here’s the thing: some young men (and young women) are shitty, selfish, mean people. Always have been, always will be. Civilization imposes penalties for this to varying degrees depending on culture. It’s fine not to incentivize being shitty, selfish, and mean.

Some of us have been saying this since 2020 and even before: Dems should make corruption *the* central issue in US politics and public life and go on the offensive against GOP/MAGA/Trump transparent and hypocritical corruption and grifting. Most voters hate corruption.

Some are saying Democrats shouldn't attend Donald Trump's State of the Union.

I disagree.

They should attend. And the minute he starts speaking, start getting up, one-by-one, and solemnly leave the chamber.

It will be all anyone talks about the next day. And will drive Donald crazy.

There’s also to be frank no other path back to any sane idea normalcy. Empower another Democrat who can’t stomach confrontation and just wants to turn the page, and we’ll go on living without the rule of law, constantly menaced by authoritarians.
democrats are really going to convince themselves that “a return to normalcy” is what people want when its really “rebuild, investigate, imprison”
