Call your fucking representatives and tell them to say no to the SCREEN Act, KOSA and Section 230 repeal.
This is the reason why theyre trying to crack down on speech/expression online, and repeal section 230. Its all under the guise of demonizing porn/protecting children but the actual goal is hamstringing peoples ability to do exactly this, counter state propaganda.
I do sort of idly wonder what the impact of everyone having a phone with a camera has done to the tenability of fascist projects like this, especially in the vein this administration is going for - overtly inspired by the 1930s Nazi movement with its very public performances of propaganda.

Reminder in all of the crazy bullshit: US legislators are still pushing to repeal Section 230 and pass other digital ID bills. If you value freedom of speech, free expression, and user made content, please call/email your reps. I’ll leave resources here:

A new Florida bill would pave the way for schools to remove any book that mentions sex, from the Brave New World to The Bluest Eye.

Literary, scientific, artistic merit would be stripped from consideration when deciding if a book should be accessible to someone younger than 18.
Florida lawmaker says literary merit doesn’t matter if books mention sex
The big story: The Florida Legislature’s years-long push to add restrictions to school library books hit a bump in 2025, when the Senate rejected a measure to delete consideration of “literary merit” ...

Porn and erotica are important and societally valuable forms of speech, and the defense of them, in the face of state and church attempts at repression, is a necessary political act.

Tried calling both Senator Duckworth (202-224-2854) & Senator Durbin's (202-224-2152) office to voice my opposition to the repeal of section 230, didn't get through but I was able to leave a message with Duckworth's office. I highly suggest adding these numbers to your contacts and calling everyday.

Once again, I implore you to call your Senators and reps and tell them to protect and reinforce Section 230, NOT repeal it!

If they’re gonna push hard for this, then we need to push back against this THREE TIMES as hard!
Another bill aimed at repealing section 230 has been introduced, this time in the senate

Please continue to advocate for protecting Sec 230 to your reps. We dont know how much support these bills will get yet, but they are obviously trying to push this issue

Section 230 says people on the internet are responsible for what they say and you can’t hold anyone else responsible.

Without 230 sites that moderate are responsible for all speech on them and sites that don’t moderate are not responsible for any speech on them.

Hey Tom, section 230 obviously is a US law and the internet is global. I'd like to understand better what the absence of S230 would mean for all the countries in the world where it *already* doesn't exist.

House E+C hearing takeaways:

- Dems voted against KOSA due to the duty of care + against COPPA 2.0 due to preemption of state laws.

- With KOSA, the House is concerned with FTC overreach to police online free speech. This is a good thing + a sign that your advocacy is working!
Happening TODAY! Tune in!

If you send out handwritten letters opposing KOSA, the SCREEN Act, etc, to your senators and reps tomorrow, they’ll probably get delivered around Tuesday or Wednesday.

You should probably do that.

Take one of these scripts and edit it to be a letter. Then mail it out.

KOSA passed out of the subcommittee in the House on 13-10 vote. Meaning that they are FINALLY listening to some opposition. But not enough to prevent the other age verification bills from passing, let alone this.

They MUST listen to opposition. Losing this fight is NOT an option.
