#gamedev Blue orbs are used to unleash a shockwave when you swing with no target nearby. You’ll need to position your sword carefully to send the wave in the right direction #indiedev #pico8

In food history, we notice how super-refined foods--gelatin, vienna sausage, white bread--lose class and become horrifying once they become industrialized. Suddenly, fingermarks in bread dough demonstrate skill, not clumsiness.

Post-chatGPT, I'm feeling this about writing. Smoothness feels gross.

Yes! We did love a good duel but I'd be lying if our relative corners didn't murder us before getting close! Swamp things, tall purple club monsters and... 'baloks'(?) thinned our numbers as kids. It was terrifying, but I remember the green knight having it easy with the furballs.

My brother and I were kids when we played this and it was such a great asymmetric and atmospheric coop game with friends. That loading music is etched into my mind followed by the quiet of the lair before whatever monster(s) appeared. We never got past a bug on interacting with the moonstone!

It's important to celebrate even quite small reasons for climate optimism, because otherwise you will succumb to despair, and that will help nobody.

Sure, the line between optimism and delusion is a fine one, but you have to get out of bed in the morning and sometimes for that you need delusion.

I put together a collection of clips from every moment of playing Skate. where I felt like I was having fun.

None of them are on a skateboard.

A lot of the best games you could ever play are things that sold a tenth of what they should and have 60-80% review scores. The games that are strange shapes, and if you've got a hole in your brain and soul that matches it, it'll stick with you forever.

You gotta have the confidence to investigate!

Same! I loved almost all the bosses in Zexion, and that is one of the early spikes (no pun intended). I liked it because it felt like a claustrophobic nightmare 'trap' boss, funnelling everything into its maw. My first reaction was 'oh god no'. At that point I knew it wasn't messing about any more!

I I / I / I I / I — Project Ark demo
This is a narrative experience and the first thing I've ever made for SEGA MegaDrive/Genesis.

For a limited time I am making this available to all because I am excited to share this in the hopes that something comes of it—

Since the list is already available online (www.bitmapbooks.com/products/fro...), I'll be making a daily(-ish) thread covering every main entry in From Ants to Zombies with some of my unused screencaps.
