During WWII, sisters Truus & Freddie Oversteegen, & their friend Hannie Schaft, joined the Dutch resistance as assassins. They were most noted for the Nazis they lured to execution. The lesson? In the coming troubles, no lovers lane, theater, bar, NOT ANYWHERE should be safe for Nazis or their ilk.
Aside from the fun, it is the best portrayal of a true follower of Jesus (with failings like any of us) and a false “Christian” leader I’ve seen in modern popular cinema. It’s not the first time I’ve sensed this through-line of goodness in Rian Johnson’s work.
The new Knives Out movie is good. Two takes:
*It works because Blanc is not the dominant character.
*It will get hate from the right because the worst protagonists are right wing coded, but the core themes - power of faith, community, institutions - are actually quite conservative

Aside from the fun, it is the best portrayal of a true follower of Jesus (with failings like any of us) and a false “Christian” leader I’ve seen in modern popular cinema. It’s not the first time I’ve sensed this through-line of goodness in Rian Johnson’s work.

100% agree. Ironically, this is the only version of "broken windows" that actually makes any sense, because it has to do with the individual behavior of one person going from getting away with small crimes to getting away with big crimes, instead of being some vague theory about general contagion.
My hottest take is that letting cops park in red zones for mundane errands and coffee breaks; I think “you can break the law at your discretion as a job perk” is the small domino that ends in the large domino of “shooting protesters in the face with rubber bullets”
It must be wild to get to abuse the public then pay for it with the public's money
