America was given a choice between a lawless, amoral monster and a qualified, intelligent, joyful woman of color—and it chose the monster. We need to reckon with the reality of what that says about so many of us here.

Today is an object lesson in the radicalisation of the British right-wing press. Britain is being disparaged and insulted by a foreign far-right conspiracy theorist. But the Mail, the Express, the Telegraph and even the Times choose focus their criticisism on the British prime minister instead.

I'm pleased to be among UK journalists to have signed this open letter. In recent months, Twitter has changed to the point of no longer being adequately useful for journalism. I'll be shifting my focus to Bluesky and other platforms instead.
NEW: Top story on industry title Press Gazette just now

"Wave of news publishers arrive on Bluesky as sign-ups surge.

"Group of journalists sign letter declaring X/Twitter to "no longer be a useful tool" for reporting"

Have you blocked the “Politlcs UK” account yet?

Unknown to most, they’re a Tory engagement farm, subtly pushing a narrative.

But pretending to be an impartial news source.

Let’s nip them in the bud, and not give them the amplification they need.
