I have to hand it to Democrats. I'm one of the feds working and not getting paid and they manage to make reopening the government feel worse than the alternative.
Like, why did I miss 2.5 paychecks to end up right back where we were before the shutdown started?

Not a political consultant but I’m not sure “standing up to trump doesn’t work” is the best midterm message, even if if accurately represents senate dems position. Not much point in putting you in power then bsky.app/profile/atru...

All it does is put a Democratic stamp of approval on this financial and economic fiasco for Americans.
The dumbest fucking thing they could do after Tuesday.
The dumbest fucking thing they could do after Tuesday.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.
And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

“Hopefully the Republicans may hear us” may be the dumbest sentence I’ve heard uttered since her colleague from Maine said Trump “learned his lesson” after his first impeachment.

Democrats seem to think the pivoting to the center makes them most electable but all it does it piss *everyone* off.
Having beliefs/a backbone and being authentic is the best way to win elections. People are fucking sick of croneyism and corporate suck ups and that is why Zohran cruised to victory

The Dem base wants the shutdown to continue because it’s the only time we’ve felt like our electeds were representing us: trying to squeeze the GOP instead of squeezing us to accept concessions; directing their anger at the Republicans instead of at their own voters for wanting them to resist

This is the message of a failed, feckless, and leaderless party. We need a party with backbone, and the only path to it is through a cleansing primary season. If your Dem is up for reelection, and you aren't damn sure they're fighting the fascists with everything they've got, primary the bastard.

Everyone needs to remember this next time MSM says Democrats need to move more to the center. “The center” equals MAGA. Those democrats, like Fetterman, are MAGA. Let’s stop pretending they’re not.

Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means.
Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
So Democrats get:
1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays
2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail
3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts
Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

Someone should run in 2028 on a platform of claiming this entire term illegitimate because of the insurrection clause, thereby nullifying every piece of shit legislation and EO he's signed, all judicial appointments, and every pardon.

The ONLY way the non-betrayer Senators can prove they weren’t in on this fakakta betrayal
is to replace Schumer as minority leader RIGHT THE FUCK NOW!!
This was HIS scheme and we all know it. And if it wasn’t, he has no control of his caucus.
He needs to GO NOW!! Senate leader should be

Anyway I think one reason I'm not that mad at these guys is we already knew they were the wrong people for this moment. A party trying to carry on with business as usual in the face of autocracy won't survive. They're sitting in a burning house and commissioning polls on how popular the fire is
If you think the president is a tyrant and you're running for office to oppose him the only platform you can have is "Give us enough votes to impeach and remove this menace." Otherwise what's the point of electing you?

Anyone who believes that the Senators who voted for the non-deal did so without Schumer’s consent while he votes no for show is gullible & naive. You either do this with a plan and exit strategy or you don’t do it at all. There is a disconnect between Dem voters & Sen leadership.
