Eyes as blue as the flame
Shedding tears for a rose:
Sights that wrench a girl’s heart
Like whale juice stings the nose

His love, so insatiable
Complex and dark
More perplexing by far
Than roadkill in a park

He promised a baby,
A bullet--no pain--
A future as long
As the worm in his brain.
what the actual fuck

🚨 BREAKING: Nearly 4 months the NIH cut its first grants, a judge has ruled that the directives and process that led to cuts are arbitrary and capricious.

"The explanations are bereft of reasoning — virtually in their entirety... unsupported by [facts]."

Each of them are VOID and ILLEGAL, he says.

Every week, I see a new study talking about this or that effect of GLP-1 receptor agonists like #ozempic. FINALLY, we have a study evaluating all the outcomes (good and bad) in one dataset. There are some... surprises. 🧵

There are few popular-science outlets that would be very interested in articles about gene regulation, and yet it's at the centre of how life works. What does get said about it is often out of date (the lac operon is not representative of eukaryotes, for example). More on this in the pipeline.
Eight years ago, I worked on mathematical modeling of gene regulation. Always, thought why the relevant literature and lessons from this field are not present in popular science. Well, now here it is. A moving piece by @philipcball.bsky.social

Unfun fact - people like supplements because they are "natural" and "safe", but they have big issues with safety. Supplements tend to be ineffective, so a common practice in the industry is to adulterate the pills with effective medications and not declare this on the label.

I want to know everyone's experiences publishing in:
* MDPI journals
* Hindawi journals
* Frontiers journals

Not stories about what you heard, please, but your literal experience. what happened to you.

Editors of said journals particularly welcome.

RT this. A lot.
