The UK hostages Israel terrorised and abducted were thrown under the bus by Starmer's cronies

While the UK government looked the other way, as it has with Israel's genocide in Gaza in general, the Canary wants to highlight the hostages' stories

America is about to cross the threshold into dictatorship

“.. the debate inside the administration has shifted recently, from whether it makes sense to invoke the act to more deeply exploring how and when it might be invoked ..”

Because Starmer bent over the minute he offered Trump the state visit. That isnt negotiating, that is begging. Trump saw a weakling.
glostermeteor.bsky.social
So basically they are raising our prices to subsidise the Americans. Sounds like we should push back and threaten to impose tariffs on them unless they lower our prices. Or invalidate their patents. Then they will come begging for some NHS contracts
glostermeteor.bsky.social
'They don't control external forces and are getting the best deal that they can.' These arent external forces, these are British drug companies holding our people to ransom.
glostermeteor.bsky.social
What choice do they have? Threaten to invalidate the drug companies patents unless they play ball on price. Starmer has basically bent over to Trump offered a state visit and got zilch in return.

I will not back down.

Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power.

What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?
Donald Trump Truth Social Post: Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers! Governor Pritzker also.

I can. You only need to study the run up to Hitler gaining power in Germany in 1933 to see how many people just sat on their hands.

You can imagine Stephen Miller wearing an SS uniform very easily.

BBC is corrupt to the core at this point. Tories basically inserted their friends onto its board.
glostermeteor.bsky.social
Not only that but these voters switching meant the Tories lost more. Tories lost 62 seats to Lib Dems, and only 5 to Reform.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Dunno, my kids dont listen to a word I say ;-)

True, but should they qualify? If you live in Reading or Liverpool you cant vote for the SNP.
glostermeteor.bsky.social
It will be interesting to see what the effect of 16 year olds having the vote will have, because it is going to happen come 2-2029 and the media has largely ignored the impact of it.

We already support reversing Brexit, starting with a Customs Union and Single Market.

Leaving the ECHR won’t fix illegal migration
Half-baked tales of rulings turning on chicken nuggets are no basis for cutting Britain adrift

Bear this in mind when they demand "degree-level English" as one of the many criteria for migrants seeking to live and work in the UK

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

The Conservative Party's future is currently measured by the life expectancy of its elderly voters.

If you want to win over younger voters, telling them they can't go to university is probably not going to help.

The electoral/political logic of these findings is that Reform, the LibDems, Labour, the Greens could all do well in the current electoral landscape from more focus on the ECHR - but that the Conservatives would be better off trying to contain and manage the salience than to increase it

'Those most likely to form, participate in or influence governments should get most scrutiny and visibility.' The problem is, who is that? The media shouldnt get to decide who that is.
