Look, I don't know why Death's selection list has been fucked since Prince, but we're going to need an elite heist team of religious scholars, metaphysicists, occultists and a cat burglar and we're going to go fix this shit.
James Van Der Beek, the actor best known for playing the lead in hit 90s teen drama Dawson’s Creek, has died.

Every Super Bowl ad is for the door in the forest. It’s annoying. “You must walk through the door.” Yeah thanks, I know that already. I dream of the door every night

sorry but lol. Lmao. you Fool. you absolute cretin. you bumbling buffoon.
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

my boss is now talking to me about adding AI into our work and the entire way he talks about it can be summed up as "what if we had another person on staff who could do things that we wanted them to do"

i have a suggestion for how we could resolve this issue.

one of the weird things about humanity is that we can in fact replicate ourselves in one extremely important and obvious fashion and yet for some reason we are enthralled by the idea of making a bunch of plastic and minerals into our doubles when they do not have to be and are frankly unlikely to be
intelligence is an extension of the body! thought does not exist independently of a material substratum! this substratum conditions all operations of "the mind" and anything with a meaningfully different substratum seems unlikely to develop intelligence in the way that term is generally used! okay!!

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Invoking wealthy class solidarity to excuse sex crimes against children is sorta the Epstein Class in a nutshell
Bondi crashes out over Epstein: "The Dow is over 50,000 dollars! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great stock trader as I hear, Raskin. The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. That's what we should be talking about."

No appointee of this administration even bothers to create the appearance of doing their job anymore, just openly serving as the president's personal apologist and attack dog. Completely illegitimate government
wow -- Bondi throws a fit in response to Nadler's question about how many of Epstein's co-conspirators, if any, she's investigating, aggressively pointing at him and yelling. The hearing then devolves into chaos and Raskin and Bondi start yelling at each other.
