This is a ploy to get around the Flores settlement, which requires that children be removed from immigration detention after 20 days. Building a school in the detention center makes it look like it's a licensed facility for child care but it's not.

Something every 2026/28 Dem should commit to is investigations of any company that did deals with Trump. A kind of forward guidance to get companies to think twice in advance of what’s coming.
Fox News will applaud this but can you imagine their coverage if President Biden hatched a secret plan to take over Fox News and revamp its programming to be nicer to him
New WSJ reporting: "During a December visit to Washington, David Ellison offered assurances to Trump administration officials that if he bought Warner, he'd make sweeping changes to CNN, a common target of President Trump's ire, people familiar with the matter said..."

The GOP is pretending that their drastic cuts to healthcare won't hurt children. But that's a lie. Kids will be hurt most of all. The funding cuts mean more children will die, more will have lifelong medical complications, more will be sent into foster care. New from me in @prospect.org:

GOP funding cuts mean that more children will grow up with the lifelong implications of untreated illnesses.

I think the best and easiest way to fight people without principles is to have principles. Scumbags and liars wither in the face of moral clarity, the only way they have a chance is if their opponents are insincere weasels themselves

Trump hates Europe’s democracies because they have universal health care, a strong social welfare system and heavy unionization.

He prefers MBS’s Saudi Arabia, where one trillionaire family runs a brutal dictatorship.

What a betrayal of American values!

The Trump administration has made me a flagrant moralist in a way that has led me to tossing aside years of snark, and you know, I'm good with that. It's time to talk about what being a good person means; about why it's good to signal virtue, why it's good to press for values, not spectacle.
we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.
