Lectures on avoiding political violence from the movement that has recently whittled the Constitution down to nothing but the 2nd Amendment, ring a bit hollow.

I got PTSD from this as a journalist and likely again from seeing crime scene and autopsy photos while serving as a juror recently.

You don’t need to see it.
Folks, as someone who watched an enormous amount of graphic footage in my time as a journalist and developed PTSD because of it, please do not watch the Charlie Kirk footage.

Trust me. Once it's seared into your memory you cannot delete it.

if ken cuccinelli is appointed president of UVA all hell will break loose here
The most horrific person you can think of (my guess: Ken Cuccinelli) is going to be named as the next president of the University of Virginia, and they will not be prepared for what Charlottesville is like after August 2017. They will not be able to eat in a restaurant or appear in public.
Cville: 3pm today, at the Rotunda. you don’t have to love Jim Ryan, I sure don’t, but Trump’s DOJ forcing his replacement by Youngkin would be an absolute disaster for anyone affiliated with UVA, and honestly for our region at large.

When we ignore that or pretend we have to restore a time in the past when "rule of law" existed (it never did), we cede ground to the other side and constrain our future to following law, no matter how bad it becomes (thanks in large part to this Court). /end

And to get on my endless hobby horse (that almost no one else agrees with), talking about "rule of law" as if it's the guiding star we all have to agree with ignores that law is often (usually) quite unjust and that power is what often matters more. /3

With what the Supreme Court and the Trump Administration are doing to "law" right now, I think we on the left, particularly law professors, need to be really wary about propping up law as the solution to what's going on. /1

democrats started being more progressive on the gun issue, and families turned out to vote for them. democrats stopped cowering so much on war and terror and millions voted for them in 2006/8. its good politics to fight for moral shit.

More apps have health risks downstream of AI functionality than you think.
One of the ways in which generative AI will kill people is that yesterday, when the wet bulb temperature was nearing 119F, the conversational agent built into the weather app said it was "not a bad day for a bike ride as long as there's some shade". No. No it's not.
