I decided to post about the stuff I play this year, both to share what I did and also to track what I played. But its a pain to track, so I'm going to pin this thread and add what I played in groups up until my recent game.

SO, games I played in 2025 (in progress)!
Been looking at my backlog and deciding what I want to try and get through next year. Kind of thinking about trying to finish the PS1 games I have? But I literally only have JRPGs left lol.

I like those, but I burn out so easily doing too many in a row, so not sure that's a goal I want to set.

My first instinct is this is probably bad? Acquisitions always make me nervous, really hope this doesn't end up harming GOG.

I don't know enough about this co-founder though, but anyone with that kind of money probably shouldn't be trusted blindly.

Man, kinda just fuck Level-5. I swear to god, every time I hear the CEO say something, its the dumbest shit I've heard all week.

Always bully corporations and their asshole leaders.

How can they make HALO worse? How can the wreck it harder?

Guess.

Good news! I found that Genesis cable I lost!

I also found that missing PS1 SCART cable I replaced already, which drives me nuts because I swear to god I checked that box before paying for shipping for a new onefghjlhbdljnbfdjgfdbkjn.

Wanted to check something on the Genesis but I've placed the cable somewhere I wouldn't lose it again after unplugging and cleaning the space.

So I naturally have no idea where it is.

Guess I'm kicking the holidays off with another lost cable adventure tomorrow, not up to it this late lol.

Still kind of mulling over how E33 made me feel at the end, not very happy about things.

Also, kind of weird that this happened twice this year? I loved Silksong and E33 for basically their entire run time, but hated how they concluded. Silksong to a much lesser degree though.

Annoyances with what I suspect are inaccuracies in the PSN wrapped thingy are making me feel compelled to post some kind of year-end review of everything I played.

Probably not a great thing to do for a website that caps my word count at 250 per post though.

PSN wrap up time. Just like last year, I kinda feel like some of this is wrong? Also, can they just let me browse all this data they obv have collected on my page or something?

I decided my next game was going to be Expedition 33. And it's more than fine.

But my primary driving factor to play it right now, is because I was nearly spoiled by stray GOTY discourse. Kinda makes me sad?

I rolled credits on Trails in the Sky 1st remake. Kind of shocked its not my GotY, but this one was stacked. Still Sky 1st is everything I hoped for in a remake and more. Hope they carry forward and do 3rd after SC.

Doing NG+ for the plat, as is my tradition with the Trails series.

A little surprised to see that so many people assumed this was going to be priced like a subsidized home console?

I would be shocked if this was at or under $800, if I understand where this sits in terms of PCs. If this was that kind of product, they'd have already announced the price.
Valve reportedly says the Steam Machine will be priced 'like a PC' instead of a console 🎮

I fucking knew something was messed up in this trailer. Every camera switch just had something "wrong" with it, I just couldn't put my finger on it, like it was doing something fucky.

Being AI generated slop makes so much sense.

Ugh, I was hoping after Dread, this sort of Other M coded character writing wouldn't happen again. Doubly annoying to me, since Metroid Prime 1 is favorite game in the series.

Maybe gameplay saves it, but I'm not excited for an open world take on Metroid either. Gonna be a wait and see.
The entire fandom’s (and Retro Studios) initial assumption: “Oh she hunts down the baddest monsters in the galaxy and gets paid for it, right?”

Nintendo: “What? No. She’s like humanity’s motherly guardian. What are you talking about.”

Think I'm almost to the half way point of the story in Trails 1st remake. Game is basically everything I ever hoped it'd be. In particular, the sound track feels *deeply* nostalgic.

Really wonderful to have such an easy place to recommend people start on the series too. Highly recommend this one.

Got my copy of Trails 1st awhile ago, took ages. Then I got sick and haven't felt like playing it, or anything after Tsushima.

Finally getting started though and loving it.

This was previously Switch only, which sucked because I really didn't want it on that platform. So PS5 physical release is very good for me.

Easily my favorite game from last year, highly recommend this if you haven't played it yet.

I feel like there was always ethnocentric problem in Western game media before PS3/360 (G4, that fucking Baten Kaitos review for example).

But he's absolutely right, it was industrialized during 7th generation hardware. It really sucked, even back then I thought it felt gross.
Remembering when Vanquish got dinged for being "very Japanese," a comment that had no other elucidation and was written as a self-evident negative.

That generation was wild with how ethnocentric shit got.
Games used to do this kinda shit all the time

I thought games like this were weird until I tried it and I kind of loved it?

Actually looking forward to this one, just something to relax. Perfect internet essay companion game.
