"We are also seeing reports of a coyote drawing fake tunnels on cliffs, leading ICE officers to follow road runners - who magically traverse the imaginary tunnel - only to run into the wall and make a boy-oy-oy-oy-ing sound."
DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin on "acts of violence" against ICE agents in Minnesota: "Pouring water on the ground so that it would freeze the ground in front of our federal law enforcement vehicles so that they would potentially slide, crash, and potentially kill them"

Te be fair, that was news to anyone who knows her
yes. she investigated the case of why everyone at the new york times hated her and discovered that it was because she was too smart and too brave.
Asking this seriously: has Bari Weiss ever in her career reported out an investigative story?

The Borg, but pay-to-win with yearly DLC
generational discourse can be solved once and for all by distinguishing between "remembers no computers", "remembers no personal computers", and "remembers no cell phones". everything before that fought in wars. everything after that is, best case scenario, inventing the borg
we really do exist.

"Like, the whole internet is telling him these connections are possible, but he insists that they’re not."

When has an economist ever let empirical data deter him?
Noah Smith is paid in the high six-figures to write a blog read by Americans who believe themselves to be intelligent. Yet, he is both unable to read a sign and also for some reason chose to have a 90 minute layover for a flight that takes 90 minutes.

Beans release farts.

Ghosts are basically large house farts.

Consequently, beans release ghosts.

Solid Roman logic.
The Romans had an annual ghost exorcism holiday with certain laxative-related themes.

For just as beans cause the body to expel certain substances, they apparently do the same to unwanted household ghosts.

As seen in Cavendish’s “The Black Arts,” following Ovid.

Once again, Trump's strength is his ability to:
- have zero principles
- read many rooms
- say things that no one takes seriously because they are semantically incoherent

Vance only has the first ability, and even that one was acquired too recently to keep up with his boss
god he has managed to piss off everyone today, antisemitic maga guys, zionist maga guys, hos own wife and children ....

It's important to separate the normative from the empirical.
Normatively there is a boundary between conservatism and fascism, and we should demand people stay within that boundary, and see conservatives that do as allies to some degree.

This question is separate from how well they did in the past.
One reason former Republicans have been better at opposing Trump than many progressives is because they correctly understand that the GOP’s descent into fascism represents a dramatic shift, and is therefore scarier, where the latter groups feel the need to argue it’s just a continuation of trend

as an author of a book on reparations I am intimately familiar with the move people make from "the thing you want isn't politically viable right now" to "you shouldn't want it, talk about wanting it, or even think about it" but it never stops being weird to me
It is actually peak absurdity that we still have people arguing that voters should bend to the positions of their political representatives instead of the other way around.

Thoughts while I am having a severe cold:

It's a common observation in Communications that communication has a relational and a factual level. I think there is a disconnect within centrist liberalism that overly focuses on the relational over the factual level in such discussions.
"I don't get to draw the line" — you are a wildly influential journalist with an audience of millions, you absolutely do get to draw the line!
IMO, the most revealing part is Klein wrestling with the question of where "the line" is (between acceptable and unacceptable politics). Realizing that what he considered past the line is now the GOP mainstream doesn't make him commit harder to fighting it. He wonders if he needs to move the line.
