Grant Morrison AND Philip Bond are going to be at the Lakes, should any old Vertigo heads want to get their copy of Kill Your Boyfriend signed by both legends.
The front cover of 1995 graphic novel Kill Your Boyfriend. A girl in school uniform wearing Doc Marten boots is brandishing a gun and a bottle of booza. Behind her is a psychedelic double decker bus. The book's title is in a hand-written style, atop a bright red doodle of a heart with a dagger through it.

A little history lesson about artist Frank Kelly Freas. He grew up in a town only 25 miles down from the town that I grew up in called Crystal beach. He is 1st known as the artist of 100's of pulp & SciFi covers such as the Nov. 1950 Weird Tales (his 1st commercial sale).

Hello! I've been one of the lucky few on the BIA these last few years, and in light of the uncertainty of its future and potential for public support, I decided to write out this comic with the help of BIA compatriot @ianfay.bsky.social to share our stories. 1/3

Ken: Hey, I'm Ken.

Ian: And I'm Ian. We're both in receipt of the B.I.A. (Basic Income For the Arts) Ken: Our last payment is in February 2026. The future of the scheme is uncertain, but we're here to talk about the past and what we've accomplished these past three years.

Ian: Thanks to the B.I.A, I have expanded my skill set and learned 3D sculpting. I bought a 3D printer to make hand painted toys of my own designs. Ian: I can afford to repair it and spent thousands in the local economy continuing to grow and create.

Ken: As for me, I've been self-publishing small books for a while, but I now have the means to release larger books, which also gave me the confidence to run two different crowdfunding campaigns. Ken: Without it, and after failing to return to animation, I was going to start a career in I.T. I was in a bad place with no hope for the future, but almost overnight, the B.I.A made my long struggling passion into a real livelihood. Nowadays, I can travel for events, sustain car expenses and socialise without managing my spending. In darker times, I was about to pay all the vet bills for my dying cat.

This is out tomorrow. I really hope folks give it a shot. Sequels are a very rare thing in comics. We're incredibly fortunate that Oni took a chance on our little mini and greenlit 4 more issues. We'd like to keep telling Cemetery Kids stories for a while yet... so let's get this one to sell out!

Announcing...

🪦CEMETERY KIDS RUN RABID🪦

The Cemetery Kids survived... but barely. A meaner & scarier series about video games you play asleep and the nightmares that follow you into the waking world.

From me, @danielirizarri.bsky.social & Brittany Peer

Out in August from @oni-press.bsky.social

What an unnerving pleasure to devour issue 1 of “Everything Dead & Dying” art by @thatjacobphillips.bsky.social written by @tatebrombal.bsky.social published by @imagecomics.com and produced by @readtinyonion.bsky.social - a masterful and addition to the Zombie genre. A bloody feast!

"Sorcerer" has received mixed reviews, with some praising its intense storytelling and visual style, while others criticize its pacing and structure. Overall, it is often regarded as a gritty and compelling film, showcasing human desperation in a dangerous journey.

🤮

I use DuckDuckGo and was really surprised to see it there too! Seems to be the standard right now. I hate the idea of people looking to explore more left-field fare getting put off by these needless vomit paragraphs.

Ok I HATE this AI summery at the top of search results. Review aggregators are bad enough, but this presents the things mentioned in a handful of reviews as fact about the art in question and is just a horrible thing to place above any actual critic reviews.

Nah, there were seriously cooking out here in 1957.

The sheer interplay of text and image out here, the way the ball becomes the vehicle for the lettering in page 2, while also carrying weight as an object in story, then that V-Diamond in page 3...my god.

Takahashi Macoto, I bow to you. 🙇🙇
5 panel page by Takahashi Macoto, from The Rows Of Cherry Trees

We see three women spotlighted in the middle, and the first panel announces they're the finalists for a ping-pong tournament. And then the crowd goes wild in the final panel Three panel page with two girls playing Ping Pong, while the little ball floats through the page getting bigger and bigger, also serving as the lettering vehicle The two women continue to play ping pong, with a diamond at the heart of the page being the lettering vehicle, and a sparking light at its team indicating their clash, while they're in a V-shaped purple background of conflict, with the white space above the V filled with text also Two panel page, the two girls continue to play ping pong, we see only one in panel one, while a big balloon carries text about the proceedings. A white pong ball behind her like the moon makes her look almighty. Then we see two girls, with a heart-shaped in-set white panel in between them, serving as a lettering vehicle and an image display of another girl

Thank you for the very kind words, everyone. Impossibly enormous shoes to fill on this one, but I did my best to honor the spirit of Robinson, Harris and Snejberg.
