As I have time today, will share a little bit about some of the context and points in this piece. Started writing it aboit a year ago when writing another piece m on Christofascism but ended up putting it down. sojo.net/articles/opi...

as one party has become more and more untethered from the truth, the news media has become more and more circumspect in never admitting that truth exists.

Ellis highlights the attacks Reverend David Black has suffered at the Broadview facility, finding plaintiffs have sufficiently alleged that the feds' use of force against praying people "substantially burdens their excercise of religion."

“Let Republicans have the literal blood of American citizens on their hands—and make that the central issue of the shutdown. Otherwise, enjoy having your health care subsidy debate in the gulags these people would happily send us all to. I hear that poll-tests great.”
The Case for the Forever Shutdown
Senate Democrats actually allowing the GOP to stop funding the government is only the first step. Now they have to make the case that Trump’s government is illegitimate.

Genuinely exactly what many conservatives and Christian
Centrists get wrong here
change of politics is
downstream from discipleship; it shouldn't be the gateway to it.
One Important
Caveat
One of the questions I often ask myself is what exceptions there might be-instances where we should connect biblical values to specific candidates or parties.
If you lived in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1860, for example, it seems faithfulness would require us to do more than simply say slavery was wrong; it would mean refusing

Honestly if you’re a parent to a first approximation traffic injury is the *only* external threat you should be worried about.

this is the thing that worries me as a parent

rampant lawbreaking by motorists everywhere - enabled by feckless politicians who don't want to change a dangerous status quo, on roads engineered *explicitly to facilitate lawbreaking* (looking at you, SDOT) and leaving zero room for error.

Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House.

An enterprising journalist that could prove that his aides and advisors are showing Trump fake shit that led to him signing EOs and making policy decisions would be a huge deal. Maybe the biggest story in the history of the Presidency? Bigger than Nixon. Too bad the newspapers quit being newspapers

“He takes food and health care from the neediest and tries to, in his words, traumatize people—then he calls himself a Christian,” a neighbor told Mother Jones. “Pretty despicable.”
Russ Vought is Trump’s shutdown hero. His neighbors think his work is "abhorrent."
The people living near Trump's "grim reaper" of government cuts have put up signs letting him know they stand with federal workers.

Oh your immediate boss at the Ministry of Fear isn’t a complete psychopath? Awesome, but here is this space wizard who can mind control, reports directly to the emperor, and chokes people out if they look at him wrong.

Perfect analogy. Also a great point about how authoritarian institutions often need Vaders to add a comprehensive fear across the bureaucracy

The notion that Bari will be "running CBS News" is slightly misleading. What the reporting suggests is that Tom Cibrowski, a guy with normal qualifications, will be doing that. Bari will be Emperor Ellison's Vader-esque enforcer, outside the chain of command, intervening at will.

I support nonviolent action. It's literally what I do. But telling people that allowing themselves to be harmed to demonstrate the character of their enemy will be politically transformative denies the desensitized reality of the present.

Dunno man, seems a little misleading to write an article about Trump describing activity in Portland and Chicago as “insurrection” with a 33 year old photo of a burning donut shop taken in the 1992 LA Riots (sans caption explaining that) as the header on all your posts about it.
The picture from
The article with a picture of an armed men standing in front of a burning donut shop. You must click through to read the caption “
Two National guardsmen stand guard outside a burning donut shop in Los Angeles on April 30, 1992.
The National Guard was called in to aid police during the second day of rioting in the city.”
