Cruelty is anhedonic. It rarely delivers the euphoria promised because, in the abstract, what feels righteous and joyful inevitably reveals itself to be sordid and small. Then it's "No not like that". "No not enough". "No the real battle, the forever war to make this feel good starts now". Forever.
Note how these awful people are getting exactly the exclusions of children that they demanded and *that still isn’t enough for them*: they demand everyone be delighted about it and kiss their arses for being brilliant.

My mum's done over 38 years for GirlGuiding. A Queen's Guide, she ran Brownie troupes, was a commissioner, even had her Brownie troupe at her wedding.
Tonight, bc of this decision, she has requested immediate removal of her membership because she stands with ALL women and girls, not just cis ones.

Truthfully, I only picked up 'Far Beyond The Stars' so I could get a nice scan of the cover. I was looking for high resolution art of these yesterday and came up empty.
I always thought it was a John Eaves design, but James Van Over made the 3D art first and Eaves recreated it for the prop!

I still like the first season of Stranger Things, but you watch something like Anna to the Infinite Power (1983), something actually made in the 80s about a special girl trying to unravel the conspiracy she's part of, and it's limitations really become clear.
The problem with pastiche is you can always track down the things that inspired it and they will inevitably be better and more lively.

Congo gets a bad rap. It's also got a superb performance from Ernie Hudson, classic Joe Don Baker histrionics, and one of film's greatest scene-stealing cameos from Delroy Lindo.
Congo contains some of the very best of Tim Curry in film, despite it's NUMEROUS other faults.

When my B.K. got cancer the kindness of others was what helped us get him care right away. We are still paying off the vet bills all these years later but the quick work we were able to get done gave us a hand-full of more good years with my boy.
