The only phone numbers I know by heart anymore:

- mine
- my wife’s
- my landline number from when I first moved to LA
- my childhood home
- a Philadelphia community helpline that advertised on local TV with the jingle “CALL for ACT-ION! GREENwood SEVen five THREE one TWO!”
If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.

Eye-opening graph. The biggest wildfire incidents in the UK don't occur when it's hottest, in high summer: they take place in April - *when landowners set fire to their grouse moors & lose control of burns.*

Time to ban moorland burning.

Impressed with Huddersfield Giants' efforts to out-shit Salford despite having a wealthy owner and zero restrictions on them.

This is a start, but why can't England and Wales have the same access as Scotland?
Great news today as the government agrees to scrap the deadline for registering rights of way, thousands of miles of which are currently absent from the definitive map.

Congratulations to @ramblers.org.uk for all their campaigning on this.

Sign a proper petition this evening, not one of those comedy Musk ones...

Ban Driven Grouse Shooting!

It destroys ecosystems, is ridden with criminality, causes flooding, concentrates land with a tiny minority of bloodthirsty maniacs, and after all that, is a shit excuse for a sport anyway.

Please sign this petition to ban driven grouse shooting.

It destroys ecosystems, exterminates our large mammals and birds of prey, releases huge amounts of carbon and as a 'sport', is utterly mindless. It's a blight on our uplands and it needs to stop.

At the 2000 World Cup Australia beat Russia 110-4 but that's just the start of the story. One of my favourite yarns I've written for a while, shout out to all my guys at the Moscow Magicians www.abc.net.au/news/2024-11...
'Half-cut from drinking 50 beers on the plane': How Russia took on the Aussies in the most one-sided league Test in history
Russia might only make one trip to the Rugby League World Cup but the memories forged in the 2000 tournament, especially in their record loss to Australia, are wild enough to last a lifetime.
