Just FYI, administrative warrants (like the ones used by ICE) are not judicial warrants (used by cops, signed by a judge).

My phone is broken and I spent forever on the phone with a CSR that didn’t know what an NFC is and kept trying to explain to me how to use a QR code. Eventually, she told me that any feature you can’t turn on or off means that the phone lacks the functionality and that’s the issue.

While I understood there would be corrupt and spineless administrators, I did not appreciate the pervasiveness of these traits, especially the spinelessness, which is near universal among high-level administrators.
Academic friends: What is the #1 thing that you misunderstood about academia before going into academia? (And if you knew it back then, would you have chosen a different path?)
