My mum ordered a new freezer from AO and when the delivery van came, it did not have a tail lift - apparently the company won't pay for them

The two guys were expected to lift freezers, washing machines etc off the back of the van themselves...which does not seem safe

This guy can GTFO
There's an advert on his website for a 'Depot Supervisor' that pays £12.75 an hour for shift work.
If he wants to reduce welfare spending maybe he should pay staff enough that they don't need in-work benefits.

Another magisterial piece by @jamesmeek.bsky.social applying both investigative journalism and historical perspective to a very British crisis of economy, identity, and, yes, spirit, in the NE town of Blyth.
‘It’s always been odd that Faragism, a tendency that is bound to make small gods out of Nelson and Raleigh, should have such a hysterical loathing of wind power.’

This is a very amateur way of putting together a publication on the part of Deloitte, and betrays their lack of knowledge of how reputable and dependable knowledge and scholarship are put together.

I don't think I can talk any more than I do about how I make almost no money from any of my creative projects, yet I still have people who know me IRL assume I'm living off writing.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

Good study from KCL: “Terms like 'bots' or 'trolls' no longer capture the full variety of online manipulation. Today, we observe a spectrum of actors ranging from fully automated accounts to 'cyborgs'…co-ordinated troll farms, and loyalist users who…become part of orchestrated campaigns.”
This is useful recent research on how the “bot” category breaks down into people and actual bots - “inauthentic participation” is the unifier www.kcl.ac.uk/orchestrated...

In keeping with the Pope's anathema on clickbait, I offer this article about Reform, Jeremy Corbyn, Shakespearan railways, batteries, jobmaking and the Northumbrian town of Blyth

It’s especially ironic because the lecture is exactly about the ‘paralyzing cowardice’ of today’s elites.

About universities, corporations and media networks bending the knee to authoritarianism. /4

This has happened against my wishes, and I’m genuinely dismayed by it.

Not because people can’t disagree with my words, but because self-censorship driven by fear (Trump threatening to sue the BBC) should concern all of us. /3

This sentence was taken out of a lecture they commissioned, reviewed through the full editorial process, and recorded four weeks ago in front of 500 people in the BBC Radio Theatre.

I was told the decision came from the highest levels within the BBC. /2

This is exactly what I said would happen when I analysed the NHS 10 year plan. Clever words are hiding the reality-people are agitating to pull as many services out of hospitals as possible. Why? Because it’s a lot easier to privatise services that way🚨
