I have read nobody talking about Fiona & Cake season 2. It’s like any previous Adventure Time thing cubed. So surreal but rooted in storytelling and character. Sometimes incoherent without a resolution episodes later. The finale was brilliant and earned.

No, you can’t do that, airhead. It’s not within your authority and it violates several laws.

Louise Fletcher’s Kai Winn is my second favorite Star Trek character of all time (second to Leonard Nimoy’s Spock). I grew up like 15 minutes from Pat Robertson’s compound, I knew so many women that were EXACTLY her. This portrayal let me know that I wasn’t the only person who had noticed the rot.
The genius of Louise Fletcher's portrayal of Kai Winn is how skillfully she did Erika Kirk face.

One of my first oil paintings from 1996 of Avebury where I went to primary school. Being there had a profound influence on my work.

“The Supreme Court decided not to have a Christmas party for 12 straight years because the justices couldn’t agree on whether to invite the Court’s Black employees” is about as tidy an encapsulation of the Supreme Court’s whole deal as I can think of
The Alarmingly Racist History of the Supreme Court’s Canceled 1947 Christmas Party
The Court held its first-ever office Christmas party in 1946. The following year, the clerks suggested inviting Black employees. It did not go over well.

I feel like that makes it worse, bc it underscores that it's not just (using just loosely) RFK Jr randomly being a conspiracy addled eugenicist wackjob -- this catastrophe was coordinated and had the backing of the conservative legal movement
It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.

And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

Here in Delaware we have a statue of Thomas Garrett, a white man found guilty of obstructing the recapture of fugitives from slavery – ordered to pay damages to the point of ruin for it.

We don't, to my knowledge, have any statues celebrating the judges or jury members who found him guilty.

Trump can be the rock-bottom of our vicious decline, but only if we start focusing on what we want the future to look like rather than what it is that we don’t want.

We deserve better than this, but we have to decide what better is and fight for it.
