I like talking about data visualisation and actionable insights in Power BI, and pushing for better vis & UI/UX.

Always meant to read this and found it at this bach we’re renting.

Uplifting, sobering.

Currently digesting this from the afterword:

“Live as if you were living already for the second time and as if you had acted the first time as wrongly as if you are about to act now”

“I can assure you that a lot of what the printing press printed at scale was bullshit”

Brilliant!

This is what I want natively. And I want to know that I'll see it in my #PowerBI lifetime.

I don't want to have to spend hours overlaying transparent buttons on top of column headings purely so I can tell the user right there and then "This is what goes in to this number".

I don’t believe that the “P” in #PowerBI stands for “Patience” but I *do* believe that the “BI” in #PowerBI refers to the bilingual muttering of every profanity in two different languages while trying to use Edit Interactions.
So going baaaack and foooorth clicking lil boxes to turn off the ruddy thing for everything I created before and after them, while muttering every profanity in two different languages.

By 11pm me and my wife are done with drinking wine out of glasses, dipshit.
Eric Trump: "You can send $500 million worth of bitcoin on a Sunday night at 11pm while having a glass of wine with your wife for virtually zero fees."

This still galls me about #PowerBI
For me it’s beyond that Alex. The tool is letting *insights* down…as well as pissing me off.

And the roadmap may not deliver what I personally want from it; or I may not live long enough to find out.

I’m also not overly positive about the “encardification” approach of #PowerBI. It may make sense; Miguel knows what I don’t; but it doesn’t excite me. Meanwhile I still have the same complaints (Bookmarks; Interactions, CF, Interactivity, SM, UX) that I’ve been voicing for nearly 6 years.

Nothing has changed. I sill need these #PowerBI improvements. I will always need them.
Cards feels like Duplo to me. I need solid basics to combine into killer data apps, like:
-Small Multiples with TopN that let users change # of panels and scale.
-Databars with CF.
-Bookmarks that call bookmarks
-Global control over series color
-Highlighting of single series in linecharts

Hello #PowerBI team where is our SO MUCH LESS annoyance please?!
Any of these would have saved me SO MUCH annoyance!

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

"As a #PowerBI developer, I want to know whether by this time next year I will have the ability to reference hex codes stored in Measures in the CF dialog, so I don't have to cut and paste hex codes stored in a text box into my CF dialog while cursing about the complete lack of dev-centered design".

I get so confused with dates sometimes with Americans typically using mm/dd/yyyy and EVERYONE ELSE using dd/mm/yyyy

So, today is November 11

Not sure if I should use 11/11/2025 or 11/11/2025

Okay #PowerBI #DAX people is this bidirectional filter between Leave and Employee "bad"?

I've built an annual leave heatmap, and I want to be able to click on one of the dates and see *who* the people are who have taken leave on that date. And likewise click a person to see their booked leave

Perennial.
I think we can all agree that there have been so many options for so many years.

Obviously the place to start would be “yesterday”. And presumably there is stuff in play.
