Always find it incredibly cute when they do this.
Fuck ICE from Aotearoa/New Zealand.

And fuck the NZ Government on cowardice over this and Gaza and almost anything that requires a humanist lens.

Maybe fuck the main opposition party too for underwriting opposing.

Used an online word counter tool for a text I wrote /project I'm involved in. Ad next to it:

"Hey the text you wrote with your own hand looks a bit AI-generated. Use our AI tool to rewrite it, so that it doesn't sound like AI". Yeah right.

NZ coming to the end of another January with fewer roads than at the start.
Imo our penny-wise and pound-foolish culture of austerity and ‘back to basics’ will bankrupt NZ when maintenance costs from storm and flood damage increase faster than roads and pipes can be repaired.

Oh God.
The heat energy we added to the ocean LAST YEAR is the equivalent of:
- Detonating ten hydrogen bombs every minute
- operating over a hundred large power plants continuously for all of written human history
- Five times all the electricity human beings have ever used
Ocean heat content increased by 23 billion trillion joules, which was around 39 times greater than global primary energy use this year. This is the largest rise in OHC since 2017; overall OHC has increased by over 500 zettajoules since the 1940s.

And also want precise answers without even having a hypothesis to test with them, let alone any levers to pull to influence future numbers. Ie they hope for *insight* but they haven’t thought about the possibility of *action*.
Managed to define a sticking point I come across quite often:
People want precision in the answers without being prepared to provide precision in their questions.

Lovely thread.
Yesterday I've been for the first time ever to an orchard wassail - a tradition dating from Anglo-Saxon times which is sort of the British ancestor of carolling. The "orchard" being a bunch of fruit trees planted on the little green next to our local community café. (mini 🧵1/*)

The year is 2352. You are starting to suspect that Microsoft Excel is not in fact going to be superseded anytime soon.

Okay, okay! Jeez!
It's amazing how much early platforms have trained us to believe that "like" = "this is worth more and therefore should be amplified". This ties value to engagement, which is the point is ad-supported spaces. But Bluesky has no ads or algo, unless the feed does otherwise. So, repost, repost, repost!
I feel like a good thing Bluesky peeps still don't get is that the reskeet is *everything*.

On twitter a like meant that content would be slightly amplified by the algorithm.

Here you need to actively share stuff that you appreciate.

Engagement is possible here. I see it increasing more and more as people get tired of the old place and become aware of how to tap into Bluesky feeds more.
Boycott Twitter. Right now. Stop hiding behind the excuse "That's where my customers/followers are". Tell them you're leaving Twitter. Tell them why. And if they won't follow you, you don't need them. Stand up for something.

Looking for a fabulous gift idea? I’ve got multiple pieces from @ciaraarmstrong.bsky.social. They look absolutely stunning when professionally framed. They make beautiful gifts for a significant other with a significant milestone. They bring joy for years. And they can be posted anywhere worldwide.
Had a buyer for my cross stitch that offered me $2000 USD, I literally cried with relief at what I could achieve with that amount. After the point of providing all bank details etc, Ive heard nothing. So I’m going to have to put my girl back up for sale. I need as much as possible. Please RT. #nzpol
Finally!!!
I pushed through lots of pain to finish her. Really need to sell her quickly, & for as much $ as I can possibly get… definitely wanting at least $1500 as she’s very big.
78.5cm x 70cm.
Please share widely, I would greatly appreciate the help.
