This is me, eating cake on the steps of my grandma’s Tennessee home. Many, many, many years later I still love cake. (Also Whisky, etc.) 📍Original Vancouver. I’m IrishLegs everywhere.

First post here… What to write… 🤔 I know, my teenage celebrity crush gave me full-god status on the other site but don’t worry, I’m a very kind and benevolent god. 😂
My 84 year old mom will fall asleep in her chair the same way sometimes. Trump is just old and tired. #SleepTrumpTime

For some reason, I know we had a reason, we are cooking a second Thanksgiving meal today for just Callie, Liam, and me. We do have three pies though, because priorities.

When you wake up too early because you forgot to open the window before falling asleep and your dog is using you as a pillow. Too hot, too tired.

WHAT IF

THERE WAS *ONLY* PIE

A DAY OF PIE

BREAKFAST PIE

SAVORY PIE

SWEET PIE

SOME SORT OF ALCOHOLIC DRINKABLE PIE

PIESGIVING WE WOULD CALL IT AND THE WORLD WOULD THANK US IN PRAYER AND SONG AND IDEALLY PIE
WELCOME TO THE DAY OF MANY CALORIES

YOU SHALL CONSUME

YOU SHALL INGEST

YOU SHALL HEAVE YOUR SWOLLEN BODY ONTO THE COUCH MOANING AS YOU DO SO

BUT WAIT

THERE'S STILL PIE

Wait that’s not Buttercup in the green chair. Say hello to Tahoe, Callie’s very big standard poodle. At 80 lbs, he’s twice Buttercup’s size!

This Thanksgiving we are so grateful that we get to know turkeys in ways that most people don't. Here are ten awesome things we love about turkeys! 🦃

1. Their gorgeous plumage. Most people think turkeys are just "brown" but their feathers have beautiful patterns, colors, and iridescence!

Heard from my brother Thanksgiving count up to 11 from 7. I’m baking five pies tonight but one is dedicated for my mom. Now thinking I should add brownies to the dessert list, maybe lemon squares. I’m being ridiculous. Please tell me I’m being ridiculous.

I’m taking this as gospel as to why I kill plants. As a Sagittarius, my Sagittarius season lasts all year long. A browner thumb there never has been.
According to medieval astrology, Sagittarius season is a bad time for planting and anything to do with the earth. (4/4)

And this, my friends, is why I love my old cookbooks.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

Buttercup is not really fond of being crated, but she will need to be crated on Turkey Day for the longest period yet. I’ve been working on the crate with her, and well, two hours in and she’s still protesting. Less so than one hour ago, but still. This dog has stamina.

I’ve sealed my reputation as the family baker. I’m not expected to cook the main course anymore, but pies, I must bake pies for all. (5 every year)
Actually in the spirit of this conversation, what’s a decision you made about a past Thanksgiving holiday that really paid off? I think people often feel trapped by their lives. Sharing our experiences can liberate us from that sense of claustrophobia.
On the most recent episode of VIBE CHECK, we answer listener questions about Thanksgiving, most importantly “do you go celebrate with the family members you don’t even like?”

You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free
