1. Headlines everywhere today read "Grok apologizes."

This is bullshit. A chatbot is not something that can apologize.

Pretending otherwise is simple laundering these companies' bullshit about what AI is, while diffusing blame away from the human beings that developed and released this system.

Travelers visiting the United States from countries like Britain, France, Germany and South Korea could soon have to undergo a review of up to five years of their social media history, according to a proposal filed on Tuesday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The change would affect visitors eligible for the visa waiver program, which allows people from 42 countries to travel to the United States for up to 90 days without a visa as long as they first obtain electronic travel authorization. In a document filed on Tuesday in the Federal Register, C.B.P. said it plans to ask applicants for a long list of personal data including social media, email addresses from the last decade, and the names, birth dates, places of residence and birthplaces of parents, spouses, siblings and children. Under the current system, applicants from visa waiver countries must enroll in the Electronic System for Travel Authorization program. They pay $40 and submit an email address, home address, phone number and emergency contact information. The authorization is good for two years.

AfD ZDF-"Politbarometer" AfD erreicht ihren höchsten Umfragewert auf Bundesebene Sowohl im ZDF-"Politbarometer" als auch im ARD-"Deutschlandtrend" kommt die AfD erstmals auf 25 Prozent in der Sonntagsfrage. Sie liegt nur noch knapp hinter der Union.

Beim Portal NIUS sind tausende Nutzerdaten geleaked worden. Der Artikel zeigt auch interessante Einblick in den desolaten finanziellen Zustand des Magazins, das für den Gönner Frank Gotthard ein hartes Zuschussgeschäft zu sein scheint.

Der Datensatz gibt auch Aufschluss darüber, welche Einnahmen das Portal durch Abonnements erzielt. Demnach haben 46 Nutzer ein Abo über 199,99 Euro jährlich abgeschlossen, bei dem ihnen zusätzlich kaum noch etwas von der ohnehin spärlichen Werbung angezeigt wird. Mit dem Abonnement Insider für 99,99 Euro Jahresbeitrag finden sich 351 Nutzer, 235 weitere mit 100 Euro Jahresbeitrag. Dazu kommen Nutzer, von denen sich mehrfache monatliche Zahlungen von 9,99 Euro oder 10 Euro finden. Das Portal ist nach allen Informationen bislang ein Zuschussgeschäft, der Unternehmer Frank Gotthardt hat in zweistelliger Millionenhöhe Geld in "Nius" gepumpt. Dem Jahresabschluss für das Jahr 2023 zufolge hatte VIUS SE & Co. KGaA bei einer Bilanzsumme von rund 6,4 Millionen einen Fehlbetrag von 13,8 Millionen Euro, der am von Gotthardt bereitgestellten Eigenkapital fraß.
