As DC was taken over by Trump’s secret police, where were congressional Democrats? They weren’t in DC and some weren’t even in the US.

Instead of fighting back against the authoritarian takeover here at home, 22 House “Democrats” were being spoon-fed lies about Gaza on a trip paid for by AIPAC.

Disappointing that other nations have largely failed to work together to push back against the Trump tariff bullshit.
A simple pact between the other major economies, a tariff on anyone in this bloc means the whole bloc imposes an equal tariff on the USA.
Job done.

I think we’re on the cusp of mass attempts to automate teaching, and I also think it is going to be a massive wasteful failure in ways that will make the “learning loss” of the pandemic look like a speed bump next to a mountain.

If #brightline can deliver as promised: LA(ish) to Las Vegas in 2 hours... You'll see high speed rail projects 'pick up steam' across the nation. We badly need it here in America.

Absolutely spineless news coverage. A woman gets fucked over by health insurance companies, and the lesson is "It was [woman's] fault" is insane.

The fault lies solely on the demonic system that enabled this to happen in the first place.

This is no time to go high. If GOP states redraw maps, then Democratic states should redraw maps.

Give the same energy. They will never play fair or by the rules. Ever.

Just set up bridging on the social web between this account (Mastodon) and BlueSky. I'll share this on BlueSky to see if it's working.

Some pictures from the "Harvester Homecoming" show in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I'm here with a buddy of mine that's super into International Harvester and owns a couple himself.

Lots of cool history and vehicles here.

I just want to update, this article has been peer reviewed and is now considered one of Wikipedia's "Good Articles".

This means all claims are verified with in-line citations, the text has been copy-edited, and it is a comprehensive overview of the subject.
I've started a new #Wikipedia article on the unfortunate closures of the UW branch campuses. It is a shame that our state has let these institutions crumble instead of stepping up and providing the support that they need.

I really wish the book deals would stop and our "leaders" started LEADING. Enough of this no action BS. Enough of staying silent to fascism. Ms. Harris could be talking every week about what the Democrats are doing, yet she's been absolutely silent. Where are our leaders?

The UK is attempting to force #Wikipedia to collect your ID. The WMF is suing to keep Wikipedia free and accessible to all.

Remember! Not all internet platforms are Big Tech! Regulators should not treat Wikipedia the same as large corporate platforms that monetize users' identities and activities.

Wouldn't it be funny to spin those oil plants back up to power our AI datacenters? That's what's coming. One datacenter consuming as much power as an ENTIRE STATE is completely unsustainable. "AI" will cook us alive long before it could become sentient.

God, we're really going back to having one railroad company. We've done this before, it didn't fucking work.
Competition is ostensibly the force which unleashes the power of capitalism and markets. “Building the better mousetrap,” they would say.

Yet M&A is the flavour of the month again.

The amount of energy that “capitalists” spend on reducing competition is remarkable.

Tony, I thank you for your service as our governor. You genuinely care. Sadly, that's rare these days. I also thank you for stepping aside and leaving the floor open to newer candidates!

Something I didn't even consider, AI being the death of #wikipedia because of web crawlers, not AI-written articles. Infrastructure is expensive and the WMF doesn't have endless cash. I really hope we are able to block these requests and keep Commons human-only.
The Wikimedia Foundation, which owns Wikipedia, says its bandwidth costs have gone up 50% since Jan 2024 — a rise they attribute to AI crawlers.

AI companies are killing the open web by stealing visitors from the sources of information and making them pay for the privilege

It is so exhausting to have everyone looking at #Wisconsin every year to see if our state will be "forward" or "backward". Can we get back to our roots of #Progressive politics?

Do we not teach about "Fighting Bob" in schools anymore?
