I am working to purge the dishonest and destructive mythologies of Monetarism and taxpayerism from people's brains. You can read my essays on those subjects here: https://jamesarobichaux.substack.com/

It’s genuinely mind-numbing that people thought they shamed Leo into being quiet about this. He’s the Pope and Tradition is on his side when it comes to the humane treatment of migrants
CatholicSat
Asked about President Trump's decision to send 400 National Guard troops to Chicago, Pope Leo XIV says: "I prefer not to comment about political choices [made] within the United States. Thank you very much."

@emzanotti
HE LEARNED QUICK

Kevin Tierney @CatholicSmark
Man learned his lesson lol @thestinkeye
Every leader I've ever met learns this lesson the hard way. We do not get to say the things we got away with saying as underlings when we assume the responsibility of command and leadership. @nickycantaloupe

He may learn a valuable lesson from this experience. He was never a high-profile figure in the Anglosphere before his election, so he is still new to a lot of this media attention. If he wants to avoid what he sees as unnecessary controversy, the only thing to say is nothing.

How many Americans know that Taylor Swift put out a new album

vs.

know that the president just told the military that he was going to unleash it on "the enemy within" shortly after his SecDef told it that it was going to become more brutal & lethal, with fewer restraints?

What's the ratio? 10/1?

Corporate media takes to a fainting couch any time any Democrat - or even any plausibly left-leaning poster on social media - says anything untoward about Republicans' character, but this kind of genocidal language toward Dems has been bog standard on right-wing media for decades now.

The media trots out the "deplorable" comment from a decade ago to castigate the left. Once a week now Trump implies that the military should destroy democrats, and it is just how things are.

Yes, I talk about this ALL THE TIME on my pages.

The all-too-common liberal habit of fact-checking and hypocrisy-dunking is a sign that the person doing those things doesn't understand fascists at all, and, if you don't understand them, you can't defeat them.

The linking of vaccines and autism is a case of one plus one equaling far more than two for eugenicists, because it's an anti-autistic and anti-"weakness" sentiment rolled into one.

I guess so; I just don't think that most of these antics from Newsom accomplish that.

The pull of Pickmeism is very, very, very strong, it naturally gravitates toward conservatism, and it takes plenty of self-awareness to realize that one is being pulled thus.

Well, you employed a disgusting, harmful, and dishonest fascist trope ostensibly in a criticism of fascists.

Right, and, though what I am about to say isn't the only thing that was wrong with what Kirk and his defenders passed off as "debate", something cannot be debate when one of the debaters is also the referee, as was the case in the overwhelming majority of Kirk's "debates".

It is continual adolescent behavior.
No one wants to be the last one picked in dodgeball gym class as they are the first targeted.

When I retired from therapy I went back to coaching, youth and adult. The behavior of adults is worse than kids.

The ill feelings of being excluded trips old wires

From the Tax-To-Spend mythology and moral-and-political framework comes "taxpayer" identity and thinking, which has a racist history in the United States.

"Taxpayer" is a fascist trope.

It is, by its nature, a term of exclusion.

Why 'Taxpayer' Identity And Thinking Is Morally Bankrupt In Every Context
'Taxpayer' identity and thinking is not appropriate even when discussing measures at the state and local levels.

Some brilliant insights that are likely spot-on.

This article helped me calm down and regain a scintilla of empathy for these people who worship Don Pedo… OR at least this gives a reason beyond those fools merely being selfish monsters. I needed that - it helps my sanity.

What do you think?

This is a very good essay, y'all know what I think about how characterizing non-rich people who vote for Trump as stupid is a dead end, and, I think that Valdes-Rodriguez is on to something here.

People can instinctively tell when someone is speaking from a grounding in their morals and values. And people can instinctively tell when someone is speaking from what they have calculated to be what they think other people want to hear.

Last big program I helped run, we targeted AND MOVED a much higher proportion of former Trump voters than much larger, mainstream programs. The same goes for flipping folks in other countries. It's not about left vs mod, it's about whether you're ready to run on values, build a choir, & persuade. /1

"so we can give a tax cut to the rich"???

What does that mean? How does rejecting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA enable a tax cut?

Any why doesn't she consider that maybe Republicans are simply OPPOSED TO these programs?

JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsom are doing something new and important: They understand Stephen Miller's theory of fascist power politics, and they've developed a theory on how to combat it. More Dems need to reckon with Miller's understanding of the moment.

New from me:

Inside Stephen Miller’s Secret Plan to Normalize Trump’s Dictator Rule
He wants to supercharge searing civil tensions to get low-information voters to embrace their inner authoritarian. Exactly two Democrats appear to fully grasp this.

You habitually validate the dishonest fascist "taxpayer" mythology that is the primary justification for these harmful cuts that you rightly describe as a moral atrocity.
