About *a third* of global fossil fuel CO2 emissions emitted during the Industrial age have occurred in roughly the last 17 years. The previous third was emitted over a period of roughly 26 years. The first third was emitted over a period of about 131 years.

No idea, not that I ever used it since meta doesn’t deserve any more of my data.

Canada has the opportunity to be a world leader in regulating AI's appearance and usage and preventing the death of the factuality of things like the internet. Our regulations do matter, and we can play a leading role globally in ensuring its usage is appropriate

Please fill out this Can Gov survey

I mean, we need some new regulation, like the fact that every bank should be required to offer a full service chequing account for no fees. As in no limits on anything domestic like e-transfers etc.

Saw this as a Starbucks barista, working the drive thru. I can’t articulately explain it, but people conducted themselves differently ordering in the cafe than at the drive-thru.

People felt they could rule by fiat being in a car, and it felt like an in-person version of being a keyboard warrior

when people are in cars they arent in society

Watching antisocial driver behavior in the school drop-off line makes it really clear that the pandemic destroyed whatever few shreds remained of the social compact, just pathological selfishness on display every day

I’m sorry, but if this is news to you, you haven’t been paying attention. This is par for the course with ford.

You work hard for every dollar you earn. You pay your taxes, but expect they’ll go toward the services & infrastructure we all rely on every day. And then you find out your money’s gone into Doug Ford’s slush fund to hand out to his friends. This corrupt government has to go.

“Imagine there was a truck heading directly for your children. What would you do? Surely everything in your power to save them, including jumping in its way?” That truck is climate change.

Great to speak with @theguardian.com’s Maya Goodfellow about my new book, #RunLikeAGirl.
Canada’s former climate minister on making a change, ‘aloof’ Trudeau and sexism
Catherine McKenna’s memoir delves into thorny parts of being in office including death threats and being referred to as ‘climate Barbie’

You know, against my better judgement I decided to listen to the live stream of the Carney + Cheeto "presser".

I don't functionally understand how anyone with even a shred of intelligence can listen to his drivel.

How has the world gotten to the point where its its acceptable to give him air time

Hmm, would this legal route let Canadians challenge Google to prevent it from showing AI summaries as it hurts the ability for people to actually visit websites by deprioritizing their visibility? I guess the same question could be asked as to whether or not it could be used to kill of the adds too

Watching my “cohort” (let’s call it) burn out and/or leave was sad. It’s hard to help motivate the next batch as they come through the doors at the beginning of their own cargo /e-bike journeys 😅🫣😔

seeing young parents experiencing what I did many years ago on a bike getting involved and fighting for change.
ahh yes I remember having some energy and hope.

Oooh that’s a good way to put it: “the economy rewards ownership over work”.
cargobikeben.bsky.social
You can’t fix living standards while the economy rewards ownership over work. Until we rebuild housing and transport around people instead of assets, the cost-of-living crisis will never end.

On top of all of this, we are in WW3 already.

A mere 9 months into the regime and Washington is giving its shock troops the SS "Totenkopf" death's head symbol.
This as they are dragging children out of apartments in the middle of the night.
Canada needs to prepare for what comes next.

After spending some time driving on camera-enforced motorways with strict real-time variable speed limits, I'm convinced that the average #Ontario driver is a whiny entitled brat.

Something that has been eating away at my brain, is that this shutdown feels like something else, not just a US Gov shut down.

I have this nagging feeling that this is the 21st century version of the burning of the Reichstag, and if that's the case, things are about to get really dark really fast.

As the shutdown begins, and partisans scramble to assign blame, Trump is making things worse for himself and his party:
- promoting racist videos
- erratic threats
- failed negotiations
- rampant lying
- glee over breakdown

It's like he's trying to get blamed. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Today was generally miserable but I finally got something over with I’ve been dreading for weeks so here’s some photos of my stupid new handknit sweater. Also: Where my PCOS folks at??
A fat woman stands against a plain wall in profile, her long hair covers her face. She wears a somewhat transparent hand knit long sleeve sweater that’s a dusty pink but has a big hot pink stripe through the mid section. A handknit sweater hangs on a wooden hanger in the blazing sun. The sweater has a v-neck, long sleeves, and is mostly a dusty pink save for a thick bright hot pink stripe across the chest.

Yeah, that's not how copyright works. You don't get to use ANY copyright material unless you GET permissions, not revoke permissions.

Theirs, and every AI systems entire dataset needs to be deleted and started from scratch with only licensed or commons data.

1. More Americans work at the Cheesecake Factory than in the entire coal industry, and that won't change. It's because of automation, not snooty libs.

2. Coal energy is now more expensive than wind and solar.

3. So this means: higher energy prices, more pollution, no jobs benefit. Genius!

Energy Secretary Chris Wright on Fox: "We're announcing today expanded programs to help the American coal industry. We're helping it because for years it has been under assault. It was out of fashion with the chardonnay set in San Francisco, Boulder, and NYC ... coal just makes the world go round."
