🧵 Excited to share: "Replication Code Availability over Time and Across Fields", was just accepted by #EconomicInquiry! 🚀 Here's what @lukasfink.bsky.social and I uncovered about replication code availability for publications based on the German Socio-Economic Panel #SOEP 📈📉

Replication code availability over time and across fields: Evidence from the German Socio‐Economic Panel
Providing replication code is an inexpensive way to facilitate reproducibility. However, little is known about the extent of replication code provision. Therefore, we examine the availability of repl....

Took part yesterday in @freieuniversitaet.bsky.social's Replication Games, it was such a nice experience! People were lovely and the work was a very fun challenge.

Thanks to @i4replication.bsky.social and @janmarcus.de for organizing this, it was absolutely worth enduring the ride from Dortmund. 😄

An interesting moment in German politics. A former minister is indicted for false testimony at at an investigative committee in parlament. He cries WHICH HUNT, i.e., that the indictment is politically motivated.

It will be important how many of his political allies play along with him.

I am super happy about the IZA network and DP series having found a new home at @liser.lu . Having visited in the past, I think LISER is the kind of place IZA could (and should ) have been. I wish them all the best!

It's been 2 years (+ 1 month) since I left academia. In case anyone is wondering, I have zero regrets. Indeed, I'm living my best life and am so happy I made the leap.

If you're considering leaving too, here are some thoughts on how to explore your options/find a job you'll love...

We extracted all publications in all psychology journals from 2015 to 2025 and looked at their citations.

The modal number of citations of psychology articles is zero.

Identifying errors in just a small number of highly-cited publications will have an outsized impact on scientific knowledge.
ianhussey.mmmdata.io
9.2% of all citations go to just 0.32% of psychology articles.

To have the most impact, post-publication peer-review should focus on these influential articles with ≥30 citations per year.

@error.reviews will systemically sample from such articles.

Code sharing isn’t the whole battle—but it’s a low-cost, high-impact step toward more credible science.

In short: If your paper has results, it should have code.
