It’s really happening:

135 E.57th St is a large office building that’s been mostly vacant since the pandemic.

And now it is going to be converted to housing—350 units, including affordable.

4+ million sq. ft. of conversions are now underway in Manhattan. Let’s keep this going.

163. A New Kind of Judicial Supremacy
The Supreme Court closed the balance of the October 2024 Term with both actions and opinions that bespeak a new vision of how it exercises power—one that is as dangerous as it will be unpredictable.

you know, i’m not militantly pro city-run groceries — i think it is an interesting idea to pilot and try out! — but i’m getting negatively polarized into being a big supporter just from these incredibly vapid, brain-dead posts.

We are watching a police state take root in real time.

Even *if* you accept Stephen Miller’s (textually, historically, and morally indefensible) claim that undocumented immigrants are not entitled to due process, you’d *still* need due process to ensure that the individuals at issue are, in fact, undocumented.

His argument fails even on its own terms.

This, in a nutshell, is why the Justice Department remains independent from the White House when it comes to directing criminal prosecution. A country that fails to take to heart the lessons of Watergate ends up with Trump.

People spend a lot of time wondering why the left is worse at using independent media to control the national narrative.

A useful exercise is to ask why the left is also worse at selling snake oil and pyramid schemes, because I think the reasons are basically exactly the same.

Probably because they don’t want you to know THEY LITERALLY DENIED FUNDING FOR NORTH CAROLINA THIS WEEK!

The arguments Trump is making in court TODAY were test-driven by Dick Cheney.

With all due respect, if YOU ignored our warnings in the 2000s, that's a confession that you didn't heed a fact-based warning when it would have been easier.
I am not blaming Democrats for Republicans becoming fascists. I am blaming people who overused "fascist" for years for removing the power of that word and gutting it of meaning, and making it useless now that we need it.
Something I warned would happen.

And striking at Congress's power of the purse is worse than illegal. It's anti-constitutional.
