If I was a Sensible Moderate with Centrist politics, I’d probably want to have devoted at least somewhat more time to saying I disapprove of genocide, facilitating genocide and draconian crackdowns on protests against genocide, than I had to bitching about protests being childish and self-indulgent.

Okay, but this tragedy has happened right now under Starmer's Labour.
Warning - post about suicide.

An Indian doctor in the UK killed himself because he was petrified of being deported; having been so in the past.

This tragedy will become more commonplace if Farage et al come to power.

I remember feeling silly and paranoid, saying that our horrific politicians and media outlets were engaged in a concerted effort to basically outlaw Palestinian solidarity. But that’s absolutely what they’ve done, both to harm the left and distract from their complicity in crimes against humanity.
There has been a relentless, cacophonous campaign to stigmatise pro-Palestinian activists. But the inconvenient truth is that these are just ordinary people of good conscience who see the horrors of Gaza and simply cannot bear to stand by and do nothing.

People keep wondering why they're going after Venezuela. It's because they want to do regime change and control its oil, then use a big tract of land there to keep a tax free "network state" that looks like Dubai but operates like Rhodesia. They are saying this out loud! Believe them!

I think we’ve seen over and over that the question of whether a story “goes away” is basically: is there will to keep asking the same questions over and over, and to keep running headlines like Victims Say Politician Is Bastard. There was no will to do it before. It seems that there is now.

I was working in the regional press in the 90s and we had Fleet Street reporters sniffing around the area trying to find dirt on a senior Labour politician who happened to have gone to school there.
I’m sure it really is the first time anyone’s done any serious digging but then, that does raise the question: *why* is it this the first time anyone’s done any serious digging? And the answer is, the lads had more important priorities before now.

It is a conspiracy theory in many ways but lads, the Spy Cops inquiry - about how the police were basically given free rein to fuck with, harass and generally make sport of protest groups over decades - is still ongoing, to total indifference from MPs and press.
