The BBC also recently confirmed the future of the main show, revealing that the deal with Disney is no longer in place. However, the Doctor and the TARDIS will be back in action next Christmas, with showrunner Russell T Davies set to pen a new festive special. Recently chatting exclusively to RadioTimes.com, Davies revealed the status of that special. Asked whether he's started writing the special, Davies told us: "Not at the moment because I'm busy on [The War Between the Land and the Sea]. I'm also shooting a show in Manchester, so next year my plate clears and we'll get to work on that." While he's keeping quiet on the details, Davies also confirmed he's got the plot all worked out, saying: "I know exactly what happens in it, don't worry about that." Doctor Who day has arrived. Yes, our favourite TV show celebrates its 62nd anniversary. At 5.16pm on the 23rd November 1963 the BBC premiered An Unearthly Child and UK television viewers were introduced to the incredible world of Doctor Who for the first time. William Hartnell was the Doctor, a strange old man who could travel through space and time in his blue police box. Little did anyone know that this was just the first incarnation of a character who would become so iconic and still be here 62 years later. Happy anniversary, Doctor Who!
