Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!

Ezra Klein’s most recent column gives the game away: he talks about how horrified he was by Kirk’s assassination because he identifies with Kirk. Kirk, like Klein, talked for a living. So even if they had different policy positions, to some degree, Klein sees himself in Kirk.

this from my piece on charlie kirk is probably the most important takeaway if you want to know why bad faith, right-wing voices in media are treated as just another set of peers

Anna Bower is doing it right.
I wrote this story because the case of the Guatemalan children hasn’t received nearly as much media attention as it deserves.

I wanted to highlight the full extent of the government’s depraved conduct.

I hope you’ll read and share. Don’t look away.

Somebody should ask JD Vance if he's going to follow the existing childhood vaccination schedule or follow whatever RFK Jr.'s hand-picked panel of ignorant buffoons comes up with. He'll probably pearl-clutch and feign offense on the pretense that even asking him the question is a HIPAA violation.

A “tariff rebate check” is like setting your kitchen on fire and then mailing yourself a bucket of water. There's an easier way to avoid the burn.

On virtually every issue where, a decade ago, I would have been sympathetic to “the Republican position,” they’ve chucked it out the window in favor of Trump worship.

One of the more depressing features of the past decade has been seeing how quickly and easily the right abandoned the genuinely good principles it once pretended to care about. Free trade; federalism; free speech. They jettissoned everything they had a point about & kept all the loathesome bits.
Trump and his MAGA movement have mastered the art of projection, accusing the left of doing what they themselves have done. But now, Trump has taken that to a new level, becoming the manifestation of an oppressive state that the right has always warned against. So why aren't more sounding the alarm?
Trump Is The Bogeyman The Right Always Warned Us About
Where is the outrage now that Trump has manifested the right's deepest darkest fears about an oppressive state?

I have lost all patience with the apparently unshakeable conviction that striking a reasonable, moderate pose means assuming the sincerity of transparently pretextual horseshit. Donald Trump does not care about reducing crime in DC. He is testing and normalizing paramilitary deployments in cities.
Is that what he is doing? Fighting crime? Phew. I thought he was using federal power to assert power over the country’s capital

I don't need to hear another word from anyone defending the NYT ever again and I have to assume the talented reporters and writers employed there will understand.

This is Jenny McCarthy shit. Shameful and pathetic. Both sidesing scientists vs the stupidest people on earth. National Enquirer shit.
"pro-vaccine groups"

NYT editors are the fucking enemy

Please welcome my friend Scott who is new. Throw him a follow and/or recommend lists for him. He's an expat, a critical thinker, a slightly libertarian leaning but kind of traditional liberal, a writer and photographer, and always interesting. bsky.app/profile/digi...

This is exactly the point. Keeping your job in this hollowed-out corrupt DoJ, basically Donald Trump’s personal grievance firm, is useless. It’s like saying “if I refuse to strangle this puppy I might lose my job in the puppy-strangling factory!”

Use your body for fun. Go outside. Be physical. Pick an activity or sport or pastime that keeps you moving, and (unless you happen to be asexual) have a lot of sex. Other health advice you'll get can enhance/support this, but do the best you can regardless of your fitness level. Also, meditate.
people over 30 quote this with some life advice for the rest of us?

@normeisen.bsky.social I'll subscribe anyway...because it's you...but I find the term "contrarian" is perceived by most people to mean someone who takes a contrary view regardless of the merits, just to be contrary, and I don't think that's what you're after.

This platform may be at a tipping point of sorts. Allow me to explore. For me, Bluesky has been a Twitter replacement. As such, I don't post a lot. Mostly I just read. The best of Twitter was (and the best of here is) learning things by reading posts by people who know things about shit. /1

"The essence of fascism is to simplify complex problems and feed people who don't have time to read some bullshit."

I will never disrespect a soap opera actor again.
Braedon: I come from a nation that believed in fascist ideology for a while. And we don’t want to go to that again. We are close to it because people want to simplify complex problems. The essence of fascism is to simplify complex problems and feed people who don't have time to read some bullshit.
