I think this was my favorite video of 2025 so I'm re-sharing it.
Such a powerful video from @boston.gov and @streets.boston.gov about the impact of e-bikes (and the city's e-bike voucher program). Just look at the joy these bikes have brought to Steven and Muriel Leonard!

BREAKING: While baristas continue the largest ULP strike in Starbucks history, 19 more stores filed for a union election today - one of the biggest filing days since our union began.

330+ workers across 15 states hope to join the 250+ baristas who have unionized since mid-November alone.

Life After Cars is the best of a spate of anti-car jeremiads published this year. The @thewaroncars.bsky.social crew has produced a book that's both thorough and accessible.

(Below, I spoke with @brooklynspoke.bsky.social & @sgoodyear.bsky.social about the rise of car-skeptic activism.)
What Comes After the ‘War on Cars’?
Podcast hosts Doug Gordon and Sarah Goodyear deliver a book-length takedown of the automobile — and a plea to stop centering cities around driving.

The Abundance movement often points to environmental groups as the obstacles to building. But who actually files the lawsuits blocking projects? It’s not environmental groups. It’s been lawyered-up HOAs protecting property values all along. Regulation by litigation is the problem.

3,800 baristas are on strike against Starbucks’ union busting and refusal to settle a union contract.

Stand with them! No contract, No Starbucks!
This morning, in the largest expansion yet, hundreds of new union baristas are walking off the job in 34 cities.

That means there are now:
🗣️ 3,800 baristas
☕️ across 180 stores
📍 in over 130 cities
on an open-ended ULP strike!

We’re 👏 only 👏 getting 👏 stronger
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

I talked to Al Gore about Bill Gates's climate change memo.

He called it "manifestly absurd" and questioned Gates's true motives for releasing it.

Gore talks to HEATED about COP30, the Gates memo, and why he thinks billionaires should face far more scrutiny in the climate fight.

Exciting news: my union @pen-guild.bsky.social won our fight to hold management accountable for rolling out AI tools with no notice & for failing to hold the bots to the same standards all of us humans must follow — in violation of the contract they agreed to. A neutral arbiter said we were right!

Lol, Zillow tried to rate the climate risks facing individual properties. The real estate industry *hated* it, precisely because it worked -- it made selling risky properties more difficult. So they rebelled & Zillow caved.

Don't look up!

Seriously, the article mentions 11 people killed on or by ebikes and emotorcycles over the course of a few years. Cars kill over 40,000 people in the US each year, including people on ebikes.
Wait until they hear about cars.
But seriously - yes, agree, regulate e-bikes. But also give them space and infrastructure: protected bike lanes and designated and required parking spaces.

Political parties must shift immediately and dramatically to the left to avoid alienating these frustrated and abandoned young women. Am I doing this right?
Our recent poll found that women 28 and younger skew substantially more left than the national average. Nearly 80 percent of Gen Z women want abortion to be legal and seven in 10 want gender-affirming care to be accessible for trans adults.
