Council data obtained by the Guardian shows 345 children have gone missing in recent years, many probably taken by traffickers

Rich people would rather spend a fuckton of money on something shit than speak to a person who isn’t also rich.
Why would someone pay $20k for a robot controlled by a human in a remote location to do things more slowly and clumsily when the median wage for a maid or housekeeper is $33k per year, which is typically spread across 10-20 households?

Will I ever hear a 6Music news update that doesn’t mention migrants or small boats ever again, feels infuriatingly unlikely.

1. It's fascinating to see, as you can from the responses to the post below, how many daft things people believe, to justify their continued meat eating. So let's examine a few of the common myths in the following thread. 🧵
For years, there's been a massive over-emphasis on food miles, and a massive under-emphasis on food type.
By far and away the best dietary decision you can make, for environmental, humanitarian and public health purposes, is to cut out animal products.

Remember this, whenever someone says "alternative proteins - yuck!"

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

MSF staff are universally understood to be engaged in an essentially sacred form of work. For a state to nonetheless continuously murder them is a testament to a truly unthinkable degree of depravity.

Just for perspective, a few weeks ago roughly 100,000 turned up for the London Trans+ Pride march. By contrast fewer than 3,000 ACROSS THE WHOLE COUNTRY, have turned up to anti-asylum "protests". Yet we are meant to take the latter as "the voice of the people" and the former as "the minority".

I agree, and appreciate someone qualified backing this up, but also, you don’t even need to be trained in behavioural psychology to know this, this *should* just be common sense, that you can’t just frighten people into being well enough to work, that these stresses will just make them worse
As someone actually trained in behavioural psychology—unlike most MPs—I can tell you: financial precarity doesn’t “incentivise” sick people to work. It breaks them. Stress worsens health. Fear doesn’t create productivity. It creates collapse. #TakingThePIP
DWP boss just said Universal Credit gives disabled people 'perverse incentives' not to work
Liz Kendall's shocking comments came just as a new report slams the DWP for failing vulnerable claimants.
So which is it???

I rant about this a lot but I can’t for the life of me understand why BBC 6 Music News gives a daily update of how many people crossed the channel in small boats yesterday
From a news values perspective alone, it makes no sense

The fact that they call it DEI when it is EDI in the UK shows you how brainwormed these rightwing fucks are.
A group of Labour MPs, peers and supporters write:
“We should legislate to root out DEI in hiring practices, sentencing decisions and wherever else we find it in our public bodies.”
Devastated to see how quickly this has arrived in the UK mainstream.

This is why disabled people and trans people must be in solidarity with each other at all times - transphobia cannot exist without ableism. The idea that you have the right to another person's medical details and that your opinion on their care should carry any weight at all is ableist at its core.
This is the entire fulcrum of the anti-trans movement. Every random person believes they have the right to weigh in on "care" and what is psychologically and medically best for kids and even other adults, and for some reason governments have decided this is rational.

It's still illegal to discriminate against you for being trans, but is legal to discriminate against you for any expression of that transness is a frankly absurd interpretation of the law and it's extremely evident none of these people sincerely think trans people should exist.
I see that the Labour re-appointee for the EHRC chair is insisting trans people use mythical, segregated third spaces as a way of existing in society
Not sure she understands the "Human Rights" part of the name. But tbf the supreme court didn't either

An important reminder as the Supreme Court makes its judgement - not a single trans person was heard from at any point during this case before them, even a trans judge who applied was refused.
This is, as usual, the British state acting as cis people to impose their will on trans people.

This is a better link (I think), judgement set to start at 9.45am - supremecourt.uk/cases/uksc-2...

Is a person with a full gender recognition certificate (“GRC”) which recognises that their gender is female, a “woman” for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010 (“EA 2010”)?
