Additionally, legalizing (for example) cannabis could possibly aid research in understanding use, withdrawal, side effects, and treatment. Assuming it imposes a standardized naming and dosage practice, helping to clarify what exactly people are taking, how much, and what interactions are happening.
1) Alcohol IS A DRUG
2) Drugs are really accessible now & dealers dont ask for ID to check ages
3) legally regulating drugs means access based on risk e.g. licensed venues or through health professionals with safeguards

It is about getting control of an out of control, harmful market.

The only use I have found for anything purporting to asses IQ is in assessing for dementia or learning disability. To treat is as anything other than a clinical tool for outliers is reckless.

We need to tax wealth not work.

Why? Because usually no matter how hard you work, the compound interest on huge wealth grows much faster than your wages + the rich use this passive income to buy all the assets.

Someone made a game to show this:

I think it was @devononearth.bsky.social who described the UK and US as lacking object permanence. They live in fear of turning off a light and forgetting it wasn’t always dark.

One of my favourite things about putting my eldest daughter to sleep. She’s 3 now, but most recently, after a long day at work, she fell asleep she said “daddy you finished work”. My heart melted.
my daughter is learning to talk and understands counting more as a matter of repeating sounds she's heard in sequence. As she was falling asleep I heard her counting to herself in French, and it went (I am not joking) "one, two, three, ten, more, sleep, dog, cat, anyway"

I remember being at a crossroads of wanting to either be a psychologist or screenwriter. When I had the thought that I could be the best screenwriter ever (which I absolutely was not) and it would still be a lottery for success. It made choosing a path a lot easier.
Reminder, don’t take advice from lottery winners

Seems relevant again today
Labour pointing out how the Tories have gutted the economy while simultaneously signalling they’ll stick to Conservative tax and spend rules isn’t very reassuring to me.

Always helpful to listen to Blyth and guests on this topic. Waiting for the inevitable crossover with @garyseconomics.bsky.social , which would be great.
