a neat (and scary) survey into AI "companions" and kids www.aura.com/reports/stat...

"nearly half of the time kids and teens use AI, it is
for companionship, and when they do, the themes of discussion are primarily sexual, romantic, and violent."

If you don't have the @birdsoftheworld.bsky.social Cornell bird ID app, make it a new year gift to yourself. So cool to learn what I'm hearing. (Mostly American crow, but still.) The app is free, but if you can, there's a donation match going on right now. www.birds.cornell.edu/home/@birdso...

Here in the Midwest, data centers threaten to suck up fresh water from our Great Lakes. Just one of may examples includes a Microsoft plant now under construction near Racine, WI that is expected to use upwards of 8 MILLION gallons a day. A day! That is not okay.
Bernie Sanders: "We need to be thinking seriously about a moratorium on data centers. You gotta slow this process down. It's not good enough for the oligarchs to tell us 'you adapt.' Are they gonna guarantee healthcare to all people? What are they gonna do when there are no jobs? Make housing free?"

The surge of AI slop, deceptive synthetic videos & images flooding our feeds, is driven in large part by Agentic AI Accounts (AAAs). aiforensics.org/work/agentic...

Key findings:
-Over 43,000 mostly AI-made posts generated 4.5 billion views
-More than 65% of accounts were created in early 2025

It's important to note for the consultant people: Kat is tied for first place, she's raised more money in this race than anyone else, and she hasn't used Twitter in months.

It's a website filled with racist AI snuff films and it's rigged against you specifically. There's no good reason to use it.
This has always been a Bluesky-first campaign. But as of today, we will no longer be using Twitter. At all.

And I'm calling on other candidates to follow suit.

The Olivia Nuzzi story and the Bari Weiss at CBS story are the same story, which is that the upper echelons of legacy media are absolutely rife with people who worship power and don't feel burdened by any sense of responsibility to their profession or the public.

CBS paid the president of the United States millions in bribe money and now they censor news reports so it does not annoy him. I don’t know how much plainer we can put this.

The person charged with enforcing the laws is an open lawbreaker, assisted by a team of open lawbreakers, backed by a Congressional majority indifferent to lawbreaking, supported by a Supreme Court that privileges them to break the law.

It has no legitimacy whatsoever.
The person charged with enforcing the laws is himself a law breaker. In such a state, do laws even have any legitimacy?

This is the worst case scenario that everybody was worried about
It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.

And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

Washington Post's new headline is still wrong.

1. The release was not "huge."
2. DOJ missed the deadline to release all the files.
3, No mention of extensive redactions.

is less that this crew changes the regime and more that while trying to do so they cash out the whole thing. Which is one more powerful reason why resistance is patriotic.
