Ask me why I mourn
I don’t care who you are - if you’ve been my friend for decades or even if you are a living saint- if I find out you back into every parking spot? Maximum security prison for life, no possibility of parole, solitary confinement

People keep asking why The Onion is doing well right now, and it's simply because we just refuse to kowtow. I cannot stress enough how good it is for your business and your soul be strong and even fun in the face of the ongoing horror and bullshit.

Everything is a lot right now and that can be paralyzing and disempowering because there is no way for you to fix it.

The thing I want you to remember is disaster recovery is not something one super hero does alone, it is something regular people do one mission at a time.

I expected to be this angry about the TikTok ban but the surprising part is how heartbroken I am because of it

Horrifying, well written story.
***Huge CW***

I've seen posts abt this but didn't want to read because I didn't want the details inside me. But "she decided it was important for all of France to hear her story and to place the shame on the accused men, rather than on her." If she can do that, I can read.

Woman in France Testifies Against Husband Accused of Bringing Men to Rape Her
Gisèle Pelicot spoke of the horror of being told by the police that they had evidence her husband had drugged her for years and brought men into their home to join him in raping her.

the weird gender role shit is always a big part of fascism. There’s a lot of hay to be made about how fascism is basically toxic masculinity as political theory, and how it functions on a societal level the same way that psychological and physical abuse function on a personal level.

Political violence always benefits authoritarians because liberals will always condemn it and authoritarians, regardless of whether they are perpetrators or victims, will always use it to claim more power.

this movie really is peak American Century cinema. a film where the world is saved less by American technology or military strength then by American ingenuity and bravery born of a diverse, meritocratic society.
watching INDEPENDENCE DAY for the pod and damn this movie still whips!

Remember who had did all of that agenda- and parameter-setting around terms like "activist judges" and "politicizing the courts?" They were telling you what they were going to do.

When they accuse, they are always telling you what they are going to do.

I'm begging everyone who has Peacock to watch We Are Lady Parts season 2. It's so good and I need more of this show.

Or if you don't have Peacock, pony up for just one month so you can watch this incredible show. Please.

and the thing is, this is false! when faced with consequences trump wilts away! when his opponents relentlessly hit him on scandal he declines with the broader public! it as if everyone treats the fact that he is the first incumbent in 30 years to lose reelection as a tidbit and not a critical fact!
I think a lot of people, including "elite media," have convinced themselves if you do anything against him, it will be to Trump's benefit somehow. He's a counter-puncher! This has led to a learned helplessness when it comes to Trump and his followers.

The first thing a lot of us in Texas probably think about when we see a lot of state troopers these days are the nearly 100 of them that stood by and let children die at an elementary school because they were too scared to do anything about a single shooter. It's all fucking cosplay.
