Canada knows that if Greenland falls we are next. You can bet that Canada will be putting troops on the ground if Denmark issues Article IV of the NATO charter.

There's no chance that I'd willingly buy an American product clothing these days. I feel somewhat conflicted about this because there are a lot of great American artisans and designers, but I can't bring myself to support an economy that is being directed by a President to annex us.
Go Canada 🇨🇦
talked to the owner of a denim company that produces jeans in the US. he said that he's seen declining sales abroad in EU and Canada. stores tell him that customers don't want to buy MiUSA products bc Trump makes dumb, pointless threats like "taking over Canada or Greenland"

Trump lived off Russian mob money. He invaded Venezuela for the oil.
He's a gangster who claims, "American dominance in the Western Hemisphere will never be questioned again."

Dangerous (and Trumpy) nonsense.

The courts exist to interpret and protect our rights — even, and maybe especially, the unpopular ones.

The fact that they aren’t elected is a *good* thing.

The best analysis I've heard & read is that the MOU b/w Alberta & Canada will *maybe* build a pipeline (which is terrible, IMO), but *definitely will* generate a "national energy grid" that incentivizes non-fossil-fuel-based, independent power generation that'll electrify Canada. I truly hope so!
As far as I'm concerned, the game, and the board, and the prize, is a national energy grid. Which is what the MOU *really* puts into motion, while everyone is obsessing over hypothetical pipelines.

National energy grid + renewables + grid level storage = fossil fuels becoming a niche commodity.
And again, I'm one of the people who think betting hard on oil right now is a bad idea. I've written *many* columns on that.

It's not what the Carney is doing. He's doing the opposite: implementing policies (industrial carbon price, tax credits, interties) that accelerate electrification.

As I say here, this is not about saving the planet. The planet will be orbiting the sun long after we’re gone.

The question is, will there be a healthy, thriving human society on that planet? The answer to that question is very much up for grabs at this point.

Watching Avatar w/ my two eldest & their reaction to the destruction of Hometree is visceral.

Though it is just a fictional story, it tells such important truths about our world, and my kids understand it:

How we treat people and our world really REALLY matters. They've got fire in their bellies!

Just got my audio book version, and thrilled to see that you narrated it.
And, according to David Herle, this is laugh-out-loud funny. Looking forward to it!

A brilliant stand on principles that reignited my belief that there are many very good, principled politicians in Canada. Guilbeault is one of the best 👌.

There should be NO NEW PIPELINE IN CANADA!
This afternoon, I informed the Prime Minister of my decision to resign as Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture, Minister responsible for Official Languages, Minister of Nature and Parks Canada, as well as his Lieutenant in Quebec.

This is a very concerning story. Cold Lake First Nation is living in 3rd world conditions. They have been completely frozen out by Mark Carney/Danielle Smith's plan to drive a 400 km pipeline carbon capture facility on their land.
This won't end well Mark.

I love this highway! I've traveled on about 90% of it. So grateful that Canada made the effort to create this sort of national connection. And, what a beautiful country we live in! Each province is so different.

Watching Hockey Night in Canada right now but the commentators voices aren't coming through. It's weird not hearing Chris & Craig's play-by-play and just watching the boys skate around. Especially these replays. Why replay that moment? What happened that's so important? Hearing the crowd is cool!

Courage to make a city better is made possible by a deep understanding of systems and an even deeper ability to mobilize a talented team. All great mayors have those things:
- team manager
- talent recruiter
- incisive understanding of systems

My own mayor, Olivia Chow, has these gifts, as well.
Anne Hidalgo is one of the most courageous mayors in history. They sued her. Said she was attacking Parisian heritage. Said she would make traffic worse.

And yet she persisted. She seized an opportunity and delivered.
Ridership on Paris region transit systems is now generally at or higher than pre-pandemic levels. Bike use is much higher than pre-pandemic.

At the same time, car traffic in Paris and on its ring highway is substantially lower than it was pre-pandemic. www.institutparisregion.fr/mobilite-et-...

Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down?

Federal workers aren’t furloughed.

Funding for social services doesn’t dry up.

Failure to pass a budget triggers an election.

It puts the politicians jobs on the line.

They get the budget passed.
