Hi my name is Julie and I want to see my son this Christmas.

I lost my job in February and I was unable to be there for his birthday this year.

Missing the holidays would mean it would be a year since we were in the same state

It can literally be caused by poverty. Literally just subjecting your caregivers to financial stress causes it.

We should dream of a world where the first 10 years of a child's life is filled with happy, calm, kind adults. Even just three years changes everything.
I think a lot about how profoundly unfair childhood trauma is.

It gives you a disability for effectively the rest of your life, AND can make you underearn, struggle with stability, become abused later in life, on top of impacting your physical health for years.

I was telling friends about this the other day. I am so fricking close to losing it the next time someone second guesses something I say. It's come from students, staff and faculty this semester and I am just so fricking tired. One was a white guy telling me I was wrong about a DEI issue!

Everyone digs “[AI] won’t stand in authentic wonder before the beauty of God’s creation,” but don’t sleep on Leo’s other great line.

“Use it in such a way that if it disappeared tomorrow, you would still know how to think, how to create, how to act on your own, how to form authentic friendships.”

black Americans are told we have no cultural relevance but 1, we do and 2 it's not that we don't have it, it's just stolen and bastardized by non black people who can easily drop it anytime.

our music, fashion, speech, queerness, dance, everything, has influence, but with us erased from it.

Therapy is great because I can now identify that attachment to others works on an irrational, emotional level, and that when I feel like "I want to bite them" it's just something totally irrational that my extremely traumatized brain has associated with love and doesn't need to MAKE sense

I wasn't going to ask again so soon, but it turns out because of the way I was fired by my previous job I do not qualify for unemployment pay. This is a devestating blow, as I still don't have a job yet. Things are tight and any little bit you can spare helps immensely:

The training/socialization of men starts instantly and goes hard. Everything you might like is too gay, too feminine. You are required to hate yourself for being insufficiently masculine, to blame others for that feeling, and to hate everyone who doesn't "respect" your manliness.

So many men go through life like that. You can play poker because it's right-coded, you can't enjoy fruity alcoholic drinks because they're women-coded, you can't lick an ice cream cone because it's gay-coded. All day, every day, choosing and judging things based on coding for narrow norms.

I once saw an adult game get nuked because the main character's boobs were too small, causing an anonymous Valve employee to flag the game for having characters that are "too childlike"

Is that the real reason?? That's the fun of manual reviews by people with unknowable beefs with your art form 😃
"i would have simply made a work that didn't trigger the invisible hand of an anonymous valve employee with a highly specific unknowable beef"

"and if i did, i would throw away that project and start anew, confident somehow that this new project would not suffer the same fate"

In a Nov. 4 piece published in the BBC without a byline, medic Rose Henderson was also called “a biological male who identifies as a woman.”

1. It would appear that in recent reporting, the BBC is now using the phrase "biological male who identifies as a woman" when they mean to talk about a transgender woman.

This is an incredibly demeaning way to talk about transgender women in news pieces.
