DC had been looking to unload Felker-Martin since the announcement that she'd be writing Red Hood. The remnants of Comicsgate made hay over a comment about police as not human, and that was almost all one would hear in re the series. The Kirk murder made it easy for them to just cancel it all.

I want to make @jamesgunn.bsky.social aware that DC Comics @dc.com has let a hate group bully them into canceling a comic book by trans creators because of posts.
People tried to do that to you before & so I thought you might want to know and offer a statement of support of Gretchen!

@dc.com firing Gretchen Felker-Martin is capitulation to a comicsgate campaign that began well before the books release, especially in such a hostile time for trans people in general. It is honestly transphobic and hypocritical. Back up your marginalized creators damnit

Is transphobic and getting played by comicsg@te, tag the official dc comics account so they see it. (I tagged the wrong handle before)

Her caregiver burned out.

Her group home said they couldn’t accommodate.

A psychiatric facility was too full.

So what happened? A woman with severe intellectual disabilities was placed in solitary confinement in a jail.

The entire system let her down. As it lets so many others down.
Disabled woman put in solitary confinement for over a week
Politicians are "shocked" and advocates "ashamed" after a young woman with a severe disability was put in solitary confinement in a women's prison for eight days.

Disabled people deserve the right to live within their communities, as independently as possible.

They often need support in order to do that, which was provided by the Administration for Community Living.

Shutting it down will likely lead to more people being institutionalized & losing autonomy
The Administration for Community Living, housed in HHS, is shutting down. I spoke to disability experts for @motherjones.com about questions they have for what’s next, the services ACL provides, and how this move may lead to more folks being institutionalized. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Hey, every, we've seen stories like these before and these issues compound. Can't make bail? Stuck in jail/confinement until you see a judge or charges are dropped.

He said/she saids come down to police making judgement calls, which comes down to bias, training, manipulation, etc. & disadvantages
Okay, all. I have a call to action for all CA residents.

If you're not a CA resident, please help share and boost?

1. Most of you know what happened to me last month. If not, my @calmatters.org op-ed was posted this morning.

I'm working on changing the penal code.
How a well-intended California domestic violence law results in victims being arrested | Opinion
The California Penal Code requires officers to make an arrest in domestic violence incidents, sometimes leading to victims being detained.
