Rep. Rosa DeLauro, the top Democrat on the Appropriations Committee, says she is voting NO on the DHS funding bill she negotiated. Highly unusual. She says ICE mustn't be abolished but must be reformed. "The right thing for me to do is vote no on this bill."

I genuinely don't understood how America took the emoluments clause -- the common-sense bar on a president using his powers to line his own pockets, a law children can understand -- and just said, nah, that doesn't apply for our Very Special Boy.
He’s turned the presidency into the world’s largest ATM machine.

After national outrage, Sec Kennedy bowed to pressure to reinstate $2 billion in life saving grants.

I hope this reversal serves as a lesson learned. Congress holds the power of the purse, & the Secretary must follow the law.
Last night, Robert Kennedy Jr gutted addiction & mental health grants, immediately cutting off access to overdose prevention, peer recovery services, & mental health support across the nation.

This will cost lives. Congress must enact full-year legislation that protects this funding.

A court shut down his five-state freeze—for now—but his “defend the spend” policy is still a recipe for chaos.

This is the message.
Stephen Colbert on the ICE murder of Renee Nicole Good: “The message from this administration is clear. Only they determine the truth. And when their forces come to your city: obey or die. And if you die, you clearly didn’t obey. This should be an alarm bell for the entire country.”

If the DEA had killed 80 innocent Americans in the course of apprehending one drug dealer, there would be riots. But we are so ghoulishly indifferent to the lives and humanity of people abroad that it's barely even part of the conversation.
A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.
