No you just spent a good portion of your weekend evening watching reels on FB like the oldie I am. I’m horrified but also enjoyed myself. Comics, esp Josh Johnson(!), and people lip syncing Taylor Swift or driving the streets of Chicago, and NBA stars w their kids. F’ing meta knows me too well.

I found out this week that I'm being laid off from my design job at the end of the year. ☹️

My partner's got a job, we have savings, it's not dire.

But if you've ever wanted books or prints from me: sarahbecan.square.site

Turned this Nebraska v Illinois game at the perfect time. Watched the Nebraska player hit many threes then watched Illinois come back to tie it at the half. Exciting.

Dan Richman is a professor at Columbia Law School and a leading authority on criminal procedure—not exactly an ideal target for Fourth Amendment violations.

I’d love to see what his Crim Pro exam looks like this year.
NEWS: Dan Richman — key figure in now-dismissed Comey case — wins motion for return of materials seized from his devices.

Judge finds his rights were violated, orders that DOJ can only access data pursuant to lawful warrant.

Order could complicate efforts to re-indict Comey.

Then there are the ridiculous appellate court judges who are apparently far more political than substantive.

Many of the federal district court judge decisions related to ICE and Homeland Security actions are so well written. This one (on a DOJ motion to reconsider contempt hearings) is one of the most succinct and impressive.

WOW. @haleaziz.bsky.social with a new scoop: ICE now gets a running list of every person who is going to be taking a domestic flight inside the United States from the TSA and runs it through their database looking for targets. This explains the Babson College student's arrest.

Here is the full text what the immigration judge ordered in 2019. As Judge Xinis notes, none of these three things include an order of removal.

The government tried to argue that the withholding grant was "implicitly" a removal order, but the law requires an explicit one.

This is really incredible. The government's battle to deport Abrego Garcia has apparently been based on a lie from the start. Not even the "gang affiliation" lie or the "human smuggling" lie, but the more basic assertion that he was ordered to be deported in the first place.
🚨Judge Xinis finds that, incredibly, Mr. Abrego Garcia was never ordered deported in 2019. She notes that every since this saga began all the way back in March, the government has NEVER been able to produce any evidence that the immigration judge actually issued a removal order.

My poor kid (11) voluntarily shows me her essay and I can’t stop myself from telling her her argument is strong and she doesn’t need to add “I think” or “I believe” in the persuasive essay.

She disagreed w me. So there is that.

But women have to stop qualifying our opinions to be palatable.
