Hey #SICB2025! I’ll be speaking tomorrow on my sea urchin-inspired camera, Echinoder-bot-a, a wild concept I had years ago that is finally a reality! Very excited to talk to the #bioinspiration crowd for the first time

11:30am, International Salon 8
Mon 1/6
A graphic with two photos, one on either side of a large circle in the center that says “VS”. “VS” is in a circle, surrounded by flames. The left photo is of a sea urchin and is labeled “urchin” in white text. The right photo is of a dslr nikon camera, labeled “camera” in white text. Both boxes are surrounded by a faint glow, against a dark background with a subtle grid.

This is incredibly cool: if you search for a condition that’s affected your family, the site returns stats on how much NIH has done for that disease, *and* a contact form for reaching out to tell your Members of Congress why you want to see them defend NIH.

Pass it on!

We are disappointed but not surprised that Meta has used millions of pirated books to develop its AI systems.

As a matter of urgency, Meta needs to compensate the rightsholders of all the works it has been exploiting.

But what can authors do? Read here:

So Meta jacked multiple editions of my two books to train their AI. They even ingested the Spanish-language version. I don't recall granting permission.
