Miten syöpäsolut leviävät ja voidaanko sitä estää? Toistaiseksi ei, mutta tämä saattaa muuttua. Turun biotiedekeskuksen tutkijat löysivät keinon avata syöpäsolujen viestintää, ja tämän tiedon kautta saattaa löytyä lääke syöpäsolujen pysäyttämiseen.

Uusi koetin tekee näkyväksi syöpäsolun viestinnän, tutkijat voivat käyttää tietoa rintasyövän leviämisen estossa
Turun yliopistossa ja Turun biotiedekeskuksessa toimiva tutkimusryhmä on kehittänyt tavan kuvata leviävien rintasyöpäsolujen soluviestintää.

New paper from @ivaskalab.bsky.social out now! 🍾 Watch how cancer cell adhesion dynamics are disrupted by inhibiting the phosphatase Shp2 - key to integrin β1 phosphorylation. Blocking Shp2 impairs adhesion and reduces invasion potential. 🎥👇 Read more at: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Our newest paper is out in NCB. @jrwconway.bsky.social‬ designed a new FRET reporter, Illusia, to show the importance of integrin β1 phosphorylation dynamics in 3D invasion! Video: TNBC cells expressing Illusia with a Src (Saracatinib) or SHP2 (SHP099) inhibitor. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Paljon onnea Suomen tiedepalkinnosta, @johannaivaska.bsky.social

Happy to publish this News & Views article highlighting exciting new work from Rod Bremner's lab that shows that cell populations with a short cell cycle are intrinsically more susceptible to forming tumours

Linking Molecular Tension and Cellular Tractions: A Multiscale Approach to Focal Adhesion Mechanics
Focal adhesions (FAs) are mechanosensitive structures that mediate force transmission between cells and the extracellular matrix. While Traction Force Microscopy (TFM) quantifies cellular tractions ex...

@midibu.bsky.social uncovers a FUNCTIONAL role for Tensin- 1 condensates acting as reservoirs of inactive focal adhesion proteins under the control of p38, ERK and AKT kinase activity. Protein-release from TNS1 condensates facilitate adhesion dynamics, filopodia, cell migration and cell invasion
