It's difficult at times to hold both "this admin is doing lasting and serious damage to our institutions and the globe" and "this admin is full of the most bafflingly incompetent idiots you've ever seen who fall over themselves like a Vaudeville act constantly."

The duality of man is incredible.

Wray could've made sure Trump was locked up in early 2021 if he had wanted to. Not replacing him was a huge error by Biden and, as it turns out, for Wray too.

incredibly, bleakly funny that trump is going after christopher wray, who spent his entire tenure at the fbi with his head down desperately trying to avoid trump's attention and did nothing to protect the bureau from trump's attacks www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
Other prosecutors are investigating former CIA director John Brennan, another prominent Trump critic, and former FBI director Christopher Wray, who was originally appointed by Trump but enraged conservatives who came to believe he had wielded the bureau’s powers against them. Former officials have received subpoenas in recent days in the Wray inquiry, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

WSJ: President Trump believed his Truth Social post demanding prosecutions of James Comey and other political foes was a private message to his attorney general, and "and was surprised to learn it was public."

it's about to become legal literally everywhere in the United States for a parent to have their child tortured until they describe sexual desires that accord with what that parent wants. it will be illegal for any state to protect children from that

parental feelings are not something I care about

i appreciate @meredithshiner.com’s wisdom, as well as her refusal to let the coons-valentine’s day story fade from public memory
It is certainly self-evident that Democrats do not care to "do democracy," but what I would argue is that speeches about democracy do not carry the weight of collective action in support of democracy. In 2024, President Joe Biden told us repeatedly that "democracy was on the line," and yet three years earlier, Senate Democrats prematurely ended the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump because top Biden ally.
Chris Coons of Delaware wanted to go home for Valentine's Day. Congressional Democrats, despite their supposed 2024 warnings that democracy was on the brink, almost all attended Donald Trump's inauguration in 2025 as if it were normal and acceptable, and Biden himself welcomed the Trumps back into the White House with open arms.

i think it is cool that a government run by fanatical bigots is on track to plunge the economy into a mountain and cause a food crisis

So this is funny.
The administration just issued a rule slashing foreign agricultural worker wages. And to justify it, in a public filing, Trump's Labor Department alleges that Trump's immigration enforcement has devastated the Ag workforce and caused a "risk of supply shock-induced food shortages."
Trump Labor Department Says His Immigration Raids Are Causing a Food Crisis
In a filing in the Federal Register, the Labor Department argues there are “immediate dangers to the American food supply” due to a lack of migrant agricultural workers.
