I do not condemn or look down on low-income jobs because:
a. It's still honest work (if it is).
b. It is of service to me and I may, in fact, be a patron.
c. The world relies on the services rendered by those jobs.

I don't care if you don't cross your zeds. When you're hand writing equations that involve zeds(like z-transforms), I suggest crossing them to avoid mistaking it for number 2. This is not an uncommon issue.

Exactly.
If estrangement is growing, maybe don't blame the children and ask about the parenting.
But either way, 'no contact' is a perfectly cromulent strategy when dealing with people who have a lot of psychological power over you, but don't treat you well.
Found family is fine.
